Coming in for the Houston College classic with the Mrs.

I've narrowed it down to:

St. Regis
Westin Downtown
Marriott Downtown
Westin Galleria
Crowne Plaza Downtown

Any specific experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks

i was just there and stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Sage in the Galleria area. It's a brand new hotel and great value for the money. I paid $120 for a king room and it was fantastic. (booked through priceline)

The Hilron downtown didn't make the cut? That is my go to.

Marriott Downtown would be my choice..

But that depends, are you just planning on going to the games or do you want to go out to eat, drink, etc?

Galleria and that area, traffic is a bitch.

Of those, the Westin Downtown hands down.

Though the Hilton Americans Downtown is the best.

Four Seasons or the Embassy Suites on Dallas.

Don't be a tightwad.

I didn't think the Marriott downtown was open yet. If you're referring to the JW Marriott, then yes. That's my vote.

Westin Galleria

Not a Galleria fan. Unless someone wants to shop too. Not the best place to walk around at night, and traffic sucks.

Downtown is better, and depending on hotel location you can just walk out the front door and walk to all the bars and good food that you need.

Hotel Ikon is one I would suggest for that reason.

Think I'm gonna go with the Westin downtown. Got a reservation for Vic and Anthony's Saturday night. It's right next door.

I did this last time I was in Houston. It was fine for what I needed.. a normal hotel. And I remember being shocked because parking was 50% less than New Orleans parking fees.

Can't go wrong. Cab ride rates are fixed within downtown. 6 or 9 bucks? I can't remember. That was 2 years ago. But if you gorge yourself at Vic and Anthony's you won't need a cab anyway.

Westin/JW Marriott/Hilton are all good picks. do not do Galleria. all around inconvenience.

I would suggest hitting up Papa Charlie BBQ/Jackson Street near MMP before after game. Good texas BBQ served there.

BBQ cookoff is this weekend. I recommend if you have patience for large crowds. You need a ticket to get in a tent but not that hard to negotiate your way in if you have a small group. do not go on Saturday. this is Houston's version of Mardi Gras.

I plan to be at your Saturday game against UH. Woo Pig.

Cookoff is this weekend so your options may be limited.
