So is all inclusive the way to go for honeymooning? We are both of the mind that doing our own thing would be more fun, but I'd like to save money as well. I was planning on booking something through vrbo.com on USVI or St Lucia and doing more exploring than resort stuff.

Depends what you want I guess. We've done all inclusives and also vrbo along with condo rentals and liked them all. We did a vrbo cottage/villa a couple years in St. John, USVI and it was great. We vacation probably 2 times a year so we change it up. For our honeymoon we did an all-inclusive that was completely off of the grid and relaxing which is exactly what we wanted. It's nice not having to worry about shopping for food and stuff on your honeymoon.

Good choice. I'd recommend the Moon Palace golf and spa resort.

Couples Negril in Jamaica. All inclusive and couples only. No kids or anyone trying to hit on your spouse. Loved it.

We're doing all inclusive just because I do not want to have to worry about anything besides where I'm getting my next drink and food.

I think I'm leaning towards Excellence riveria..

This. The Punta Cana Excellence Resort was awesome. Great price, good food and drinks, full bar in your room, fun activities, etc. We never needed to leave the resort. The flight wasn't bad either.

I agree, you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck there, but make sure you stay at the "Excellence" side of the resort. There is another side that is cheaper, but it looked pretty rough when I was there a few years ago. But the resort grounds are beautiful with unusual native plants and wildlife roaming around (such as peacocks). Probably 90% of the people there were on their honeymoon when we went so all of the shows are geared towards couples. It's an adults only resort too btw.

We went to Iberostar Grand Bavaro on our honeymoon and it was great. All inclusive, no kids, and a beautiful property. It's the number one rated resort in Punta Cana. We went back last year also with a few couples.

If you're a golfer, take a cab ride to the Punta Espada golf course and play a round. It's amazing!

Looking at Mexico. Not sure about sandals because they're pretty expensive. Any suggestions for Mexico?

Don't put yourself in too big of a hole. But NEVER skimp on an all inclusive. It's the difference between meat ANC cheese in a quesadilla or velveeta and ham. It's the difference between the shits or no shits. It's the difference between real Mexican beers and brown bottle corona poured from a 40. It's the difference between you fighting a douche who is hitting on your wife when you go piss and meeting some nice people who will be cool to hang out with when you're not making babies.

Ugh a cruise is the worst trip you could take for a honeymoon. Stuck on a crowded ship with a small room and no romantic private areas.

Hey, it covers the all inclusive and he could spring for a nicer cabin.

But even if you have a nicer cabin..,,still stuck on ship and still have to pay for all his alcohol so doesn't cover all inclusive.

There's one with alcohol covered? Did not know.

Oh, And I will always defer to the lady on these choices.

I think all the cruise ships don't cover alcohol.

All inclusive resorts however cover all the alcohol you want.
