I rode my bike past Barry Seals house as a kid. I also bought golf clubs from the Salvation Army off Airline near where Barry was gunned down. If I get murdered and the cops find my wifes bong you fricksticks can get bent.

It would be nice to keep $200,000 in a safe at home. Not ever going to the bank again for cash would be golden.
Until someone found out about it and killed you.

This seals it for me.you know what kind of people keep that kind of cash in a safe? The kind that are hiding it from the IRS...why do you hide it? Because you came by it dishonestly...allegedly

i wouldnt go that far... if i had the kinda of money that family does i'd probably have a "just in case bad shite goes down" fund stashed somewhere

That is complete stupidity to keep that amount of cash on hand.

killed them for ten or twenty grand in a safe.
pretty sure the cops said there was appx 200k in the safe
--------------------------------------------------------------
The only figure I read was "tens of thousands". If it was 200K, it seems like the cops would have said "hundreds of thousands" or "over a hundred thousand" or "nearly a quarter of a million"
As far as anyone really knows, this guy might have been stockpiling cash rental collections for years in a half assed tax evasion scheme. If he actually did have $200K in his safe, it hardly makes him Tony Montana.

The news (WAFB) said $200k on the 6 o'clock news the evening the story broke. And then they reported "very large" sums of money have been recovered from the suspect.
Just saying what was reported.....

Holy shite. IF he had that kind of cash on hand and IF it was from drug sales, no way the wife wasn't aware of what was going on. That's two big IF.s though.

when I heard about the $200k in the Duplantier case, i couldn't help but think about the case we had in Prairieville a few years ago
3 killed in home invasion. Robbed of $500K in gold coins

it absolutely reminded alot of people of the Marchands. Older couple, very kindhearted and trusting, valuables in a safe, employed some laborers.
Equally as tragic.

if there was a connection from the Duplantiers to illegal activities then it will come out from the defense lawyer

Hell even if there is none, they'll try that shite. DTLs lawyer tried to claim that Murray Pace dated black dudes and had invited DTL in her condo to explain the DNA presence.

Did he really? I don't remember that and I followed the trial pretty closely, at least through what the news reported on. They could have easily left that part out though. That's despicable.
