Mike, I can confirm for you that it was an older couple who lived there and they have a daughter.

Investigators said there was no sign of a struggle in the home, but they added the safe inside was open.

I remember seeing him cutting his grass all the time. This is sad.

5020 Highland. Holy cow. My college gf's BFF lived there. Trying to find out if her parents still lived there.

According to the White Pages, the address is associated with the following people:

Denis Duplantier II, 65+
Suzanne Duplantier, 65+
Terri Duplantier, 40-44

This is absolutely terrible. It had to be someone they knew, if the safe was open and there was no sign of forced entry. My heart and prayers go out to that family.

Edit: Hope it's not against the rules to post this. It's common information anyone could get with a very quick google search since the address was posted.

Wow. I know a guy who just moved into Plantation Trace, which is right across from there. Nice house-warming.

I believe the house across the street that is next to the unfinished house that has sat vacant is the old homestead. Duplantier is a very old name in Baton Rouge.

Bizarre for that to happen in such a "front street" place. Lots of traffic, very visible. These assholes are definitely gonna get caught.

Oh, they'll definitely get caught. Hopefully they "trip" into the officer's guns during the process.

I hope so. That truck stop has to have cameras in their parking lot. It's always really busy

Highland Plantation apartments has to have some cameras that show the road as well. Lots of business in and around that area. These frickers are probably already caught and we just don't know it yet.

100-1 odds that it was someone close to the family with a drug problem.
