They joined the White League and fought the Metropolitan Police at the Battle of Liberty Place. The white league was comprised of mostly ex Confederate vets who wanted to take down the Republican Reconstruction Govt (they succeeded for the most part).
What you gonna tell me next that the Union wanted to end slavery? The police department in New Orleans even post slavery was infested with racist former confederates who were former slave catchers that would kill and routinely beat the black officers. You want to talk about erasing history? What about that history.

What do you think he's going to get? His name has no capital, his party is completely out of power, etc. He's done.

You think there is a job waiting for the ex mayor of a city like New Orleans? I mean, Morial got his gig because he's black....Ray Ray went to jail...Bitch has too much baggage and is a moron.
His name holds no water, zero cred

This is why women shouldn't be allowed around politics.

He could probably get an assistant to the manager job in the Urban League or BLM's Washington branch, maybe a low level manager job in the NAACP.

I guess I am confused here. So you think the Confederate vets joined an integrated police force who in turn fought their Confederate friends in the White League? Just so they could harass the black officers, even though they'd eventually fight their friends? I am not sure that's how this works.
The only ex Confederate I found in the metropolitan police ranks was actually a Confederate general-
Who ended up shot off of his horse, but lived. There's debate as to whether the shooter intentionally missed the kill shot.

the only one I care about is at Lee circle
Well then you suck. The PGT Beauregard statue is just as iconic as Lee Circle.

Mitch's political career is over
I hope so. He is a disgrace. And as an Alum of Jesuit, I am shocked and horrified he even justified his actions with a reference to Jesuit. His picture should be removed from his class picture on the second floor.

I found the space and freedom where I really didn't have to worry about what you thought about me," Landrieu said. "It's important, I hope you think that I'm OK. But I want to tell you that I was, from the Jesuit perspective, indifferent to it."

My favorite statue in NOLA has always been the one depicting NOPD beating slaves

I never go that way, sorry
I bet if you polled 100 New Orleanians all 100 could tell you where Lee circle was
how many you think would know where PGTB was?

You may be right, but within the next 2 weeks probably 500,000 people will pass by it.
