First of all they didn't owe anyone an apology. They probably shouldn't have issued one.

Secondly, these people have done nothing to anyone. It was their son on a bus full of idiots.

Thirdly, your response is just what I would expect it to so why don't you get off their nuts SS and GFY

My "He is a Good Boy" was just satire-- basically all parents dont want to come to terms with the shite for children some of them breed. I can imagine it being tough realizing that your seed is POS. Hence the denial. It must be painful for the parents.

You mean like the parents of Michael Brown and Tony whats-his-name in Madison? Yeah, parents do stick by their kids no matter how wrong they are.

till the black community responds the same way to the word **** (or slang versions of it) when a black person says it as when a white person says it I don't really care or think it's that bad.

The black community has got a hard on for playing the victim card because others have enabled them. All while the vast majority of their children grow up without a father, grow up in poverty, and lack basic skills or want to do anything about it.

Not to mention N***** every other line.

The first rap song I ever heard was playing on a vehicle boom box in a parking lot, doors open owned by a white boy and rapped by a black boy. It clearly had KILLA ****, KILLA ****, KILLA **** in it. It made me sick. To make matters worse I was face to face with an elderly black man when it came on. I saw his eyes for an instant. Terrible!!!

And there you have it, black guy saying it for all the world. White guy don't have to say anything. All he gotta do is play it. Worse, now I know they feel empowered to say it since it's on a song. Who is going to clean this shite up? Not the kids on that bus. It didn't start with them though. We ALL have some house cleaning to do before we start getting on these kids or their parents.

SS, YOU need to start looking forward more and backward less.

This is a disingenuous and untenable position.

Examples of house cleaning on the black community side. The black culture needs some changes to help us alter the actions of our own youngsters.

There are many words that will carry different meanings to different people based upon the speaker, the context, the audience, etc.

Trying to force a consensus on a plethora of descriptors will only result in cacophony, not to mention dumbs down the perceived intelligence of the listener.

An innocuous example: My wife can call herself and her friends "her bitches" as much as she pleases, but if I were to address one of her friends that way without rapport/context, or saw her get called such by a complete stranger, there'd be negative repercussions. I'm not beating down the door talking about how "unfair" it is that there's a double standard. The truth is, there will always be such because words carry different connotations depending on the situation in which they're uttered.

Saying all black people should react to the n word the same way is disingenuous and completely ignores the nuances of language that are ever-present.

It's kind of like having a fat buck toothed sister you playfully call Bucky. You can call her that but if someone else says it, it's a problem. It's common occurrence that when you're not part of a "family" you can't get away with the same things. I get it, just not sure why it's so hard for others to comprehend. Is it logical? Doesn't matter. Just the way it works.

What does keeping them on campus and being judges by their "peers" actually do? Make them feel shame? Embarrassment? Remorse? Guilt? Sure, it may do all of that as they see how the community reacts, but does that really fix what caused them to think their actions were okay in the first place. We are trying to push that racism is wrong by peer pressure. Just doesn't seem effective to me. I agree that this was despicable and they need to learn more about life, but you can't just pressure people into believing something. I don't have the answer or anything, but I don't think our current "lock them in stocks in the town square" mentality is helpful.
