People that pay taxes when they file. Often business owners or those with above average income.

I didn't direct deposit in 2018 because I owed

I cant get into the website to put my direct deposit info

I have since moved, and don't know how to update my address

If I file 2019 taxes instead, I lose the majority of the stimulus due to income increase

What do I do?

I'm in the same boat, except I haven't moved. I'm just waiting for the paper check to be issues before I file 2019.

Eta: I'm going to give most of it back when I file for 2019 anyway to pay the taxes I owe.

That article doesn’t address those who didn’t have DD in the system and updated their DD information on IRS site last week.

first shipment of checks supposedly went out yesterday? Or at the latest, this week, guessing another next week, etc

That's the major, major question. When do the following people get their payment?

1) Those who filed 2019 returns with direct deposit info, and 2018 didn't have direct deposit info, which were still processing at the time the first round of payments went out.

2) Those who were able to go online and enter direct deposit information through the "where's my payment" portal

3) Those who are relying on VA/SSA benefits to generate the direct deposit info.

4) Those who used the "non-filer" app on the IRS website to provide direct deposit info.

When you file a tax return and choose direct deposit, the system places you into a weekly queue based on the date the return was accepted, assuming it completes processing, and it sends out those deposits once per week. You would think a similar system would be in play here, depending on when you hit the trigger in my points 1-4 above, you would be placed in a queue and be paid your direct deposit within a couple of weeks. But who knows.

1. Print, fill out and return Form 8822 - change of address
2. File for an extension on 2019 taxes with TurboTax
3. Wait for a paper check and hope it comes before 10/15 (when extension expires)

People that don’t get refunds? The site doesn’t work to update your DD info if it isn’t already on file for refunds.

You take the reduced amount because it’s more accurate?

However I’m not convinced that filing 2019 now is going to do a thing for you to get your check regardless of amount owed.

My dad said my paw paw got his stimulus deposit last week. He's been dead for several years now. He's not sure what to do with it

Keep the damn money and put it a money market or CD. If the feds every come asking for it, you can give it back.
