so you're a terrible person if you keep using. Even "just" the pot heads.

I don't know of anybody who got involved with drugs whose life was not negatively affected.
I know plenty of people that recreationally dabbled in drugs (and not just weed) when they were young adults and didn't allow it to negatively affect their lives.
I also know a few people who's lives were ruined.

I make my living providing medications and health education to people.
It's a double-edged sword. When someone is suffering from crippling pain, anxiety, insomnia, etc - these addictive drugs can be very helpful or very harmful.
My partner and I are honest with people when we notice certain flags and patterns. We are not the type of pharmacists who tell someone, "We are out of this medication" if abuse is suspected. We invite them to a private area of the pharmacy and explain our concerns for them in a compassionate, honest, non-judgemental way.
So many people get into these situations because the doctors and pharmacists look the other way.
The majority of the opiate addiction clinics in our area are total scumbags. They only accept cash, even if insurance covers the prescriptions, and have no incentive to properly wean people off.

Have Drugs Ever Negatively Affected Your Life
About 20 years ago, a stolen money deal almost did. I dropped the revenge for purposes that would be made fun of on the OT.
Whatever.
Alcohol has been much more damaging I think.

alcoholism has certainly affected my family big time as a whole.
Same here. I was part of it but got 1 year sober yesterday. Hopefully others will follow suit as I don't see them anymore nor do my kids see them.

Only fault with the perfect placement theory would be that there have been millions of other planets that don't have the environment for life. There is earth and one or two others that can sustain life form.
Your other claim to faith is based on a book put together by people that never witnessed anything that is in said book. It was translated from an odd language thousands of years later. Just too far for me to believe.
To each his own is what I have come to believe. Eternity is a long time and I'm worried about what would happen if my lack of faith damns me to the hell you believe in. Which I believe is a fricked up thing to believe in. Meh.
Peace.

guess you're right. Leaving the office every day to drive to an acute care facility to get in the one hour a day visitation.
Driving hours to a rehab facility to make the one hour a week family visits.
Walking in the doors of the ER over and over again, hoping she wasn't dead this time.
Having to look at an empty chair at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.
Sitting in the parking lot watching the windows of the hospital unit hoping to get a glimpse of her still alive.
Having some drug dealer threaten to kill me in the parking lot of a hospital.
Standing over said drug dealer shoving a .357 in his mouth with tears in my eyes.
Yeah, I'm a retard. frick you and your life.
This belongs on the Creepy Stalker Guy Board. You're gonna be a big hit over there.

Glad you're doing better and, seriously, still alive.

Yeah, I'm usually in a negative mood when I can't get my drugs.

Personally? Not really.
As a physician? Hell yes!!!! My biggest headache is people with pain complaints. Trying to give appropriate care to the legit pt's while wading through the bullshite from the seekers. Then worrying if I'm gonna get my arse in trouble for prescribing ANY pain meds. Unfortunately, we don't have pain clinics within two hours of us. So it makes it hard to pawn people off. A handful of pain patients causes me more headache and worry than the rest of my practice.
Not to mention how it's affecting the cost of care overall. Imaging, PT, pain/surgical evals etc to prove/disprove their complaints or trying to cover our arse to show we've gone above and beyond to fix the problem or manage with non-opiate alternatives. Meanwhile, insurers deny our request for diagnostics and non-opiate pain relievers.
