Man I passed out quick last night after I posted. But yea $25 for 3hrs in MS was a good deal. I'm not affiliated is why my price was cheaper. They usually took turns and used 30 minutes a day. I happened to get lucky and had a rack in the very back. So if you saw the sheet hanging up covering the rack you knew it was phone time.

Two gangs wanted me to be put down with them, but I'm like naw I'm good, made it 30 something years by myself, don't need that just for a few months. They pretty much respected me cause I respected them. It wasn't just because I was a good size boy, cause I seen 5'6 guys and may weigh 150 bring down some big dudes. You just need to know when to turn your head and when asked, you didn't see or hear anything.

The phone actually got me protection from one house man during showers. Like I said, we had at least 90 on our block, and certain gangs would take turns in the shower with two lookouts. If you tried to shower when one gang was in their and didn't ask or they let you in, then you could just go ahead and get ready for your beat down once they all got together and planned their time. They liked doing it that way to torcher the guy who was going to get beat down cause he never knew when it was going to happen. Just that it was.

Those gangs didn't mess around, and someone was constantly being taken either between racks or shower with curtain up and violated, (beat down, 3 on 1).
And funny you mention the batteries cause I had a charger but some idiot got it taken away (He was taken care of by the guys who paid to use it) so we then had to resort to canteen and build our own battery pack. You can see a lot of stuff in jail. And if you show respect you'll get it eventually after they see you're not a punk or snitch.

I could go on for days about stuff I seen and what all was brought in. And how to pop a socket to light a cigarette lol.

But to g8tor, I'm glad to hear that man. That's something I wanted to do, prison ministry, after I got out but couldn't ever find the one to contact. And good for you for turning your life around. People that's never been addicted to anything doesn't have a clue how much you want to quit but can't. It's something you have to experience to truly understand how bad it can be. We need more people like you reaching out trying to help others. I help with stuff in other ways but really wanted to do what you're doing.
Yes this was long but I could go on for days about stuff I saw in there and what it's really like.

Violated as in beatdowns. That's what they called it if you crossed them in any way or they even violated their own if they got caught doing anything that made their gang look bad or talking about something that they didn't need to.

My most dramatic moment I saw, which in there you never see anything if asked, was a guy get stabbed more than 40 times with a homemade shank. They just kept stabbing and you could easily see that after about 10 times he was a goner. That was just over some he said she said type stuff. Saw one gang beat one of their own to where he couldn't walk as he was yelling for the guards to open the door. They caught him stealing from people's canteen drawer. And then he had the balls to come back in and point out who all attacked him. He was sent to solitary and never heard from again.
You usually have guards that will bring stuff in for the right price. For example a small throw away GoPhone, flip style that's like $10, will cost you $250 in there. And the charger is an extra $50. But it beats paying almost $20 something a call for just a few minutes using the wall phone. And you can profit. Tobacco which I think is under $10 a pack, the loose kind will cost you about $100. Then turn around and sell those for about $3- $4 for a toothpick size roll.

i went on a pretty good run from about 93-2001. weed, coke, meth, acid, pills.. no crack, heroin, or needles. sold a little bit to pay for my stash.

a good bit of the people i hung with in those days are still doing it. Most have kids and grandma takes care of them. Its crazy people 40+ still living this life.

Dated someone who smoked a lot. Appreciated the chill attitude, but also it seemed to have some downsides. Led to a lack of motivation, no ambition to pursue a career or goal, inability to comprehend anything or even make intelligent conversation. The simplest of conversations became a chore and finally it was like frick this, it isn't going anywhere. It was like all the brain cells had literally been smoked away.

I think some use is ok, but if you get to the point where your life isn't going anywhere, then you need to cut back...

Yea that's one way to put it lol. It was actually, well not now thinking about it, kinda funny. Cause you know the one who has it coming to him and he would do his best to try to blend in with people or stay in the bathroom long periods of time. While at the same time, the ones he was trying to blend in with knew to scatter. When you hear someone yell side, it was on. There was a wall separating two sides of the room and thats where they would usually take them and everyone else better get on the other side and don't get caught peeking even though you can hear them beating him. Cause if you do, you're next.

do you really believe "god" saved your life and has gotten you what have achieved? Or do you believe that he inspired you to be a good person.
I'm truly curious.
What you have done is a tough feat, and in truly wondering what motivated you and what you believed in to get through all you have.

Yes. Everything from weed to heroin has had a negative impact on me. Glad to say that I've never used any illegal drugs. Unfortunately can't say the same for many of my friends and classmates.
