I have been with Directv for about 5 years now. Originally it was a pretty good deal but has now gotten completely out of control as it relates to cost. Im thinking of returning to cable as it appears on the surface to be a much cheaper alternative but would appreciate hearing from anyone who has made the transition.

I have.

Currently have DirecTV right now though. I always make the decision based on price.

Really? Honest question, what are you going with? EATEL's in my area and I know they aren't cheaper.

I did it, mostly because of the fast internet speeds I get.

I tried but they made it too cheap so I stayed for another year. Going to leave when it's up. I missed an entire set of 3:00 NFL games due to rain this year......frick satellite.

Can't stand Direct TV's interface or the way it cuts out during weather. I'll never have satellite unless that can be fixed completely.

i have Directv and wish i could say f___koff but the pain to get set up with another company is not worth it, plus i wouldn't be saving too much.

About 8 yeas ago Every time it sprinkled the thing would go out and the DVR never worked. shite always happened during LSU games too.

ETA I now have UVerse and it's pretty bad arse. I previously had Xfinity and really had no trouble out of them like most but I was living on the west coast and customer service out there was superb.

Call and complain about the pricing and DirecTV will usually throw you some savings or free channels. I've had it since 2004 mainly for NFL Sunday Ticket. If you're having signal issues have them send a tech out to adjust your dish. Mine only goes out when it's a downpour.

Directv has as near flawless service as I can expect from a TV provider. Night and day difference between them and Cox.

If your reason for leaving Directv is price, then your not doing it right. All you have to do is call once a year, I shoot for May-July, and tell them you're calling to cancel. They'll send you over to the retention department and they will absolutely hook it up if you're personable with them.

Off subject but it's free HBO and Cinemax weekend. I'm recording some flicks and saving for later. OT poor I guess.

I had directv for years, unfortunately their customer service since they have been bought by att is total crap. I can't wait until my contract is up so I can switch to anything else. Plus yeah their prices are getting out of control.

I did, and I feel like creepy Rob Lowe or Skinny legs Payton Manning.
So many things I miss about DTV. Like having the west channels for everything. I miss those.

The DVR was easier to use with DTV, and I was actually able to fast forward on demand shows.

Cable is a lot cheaper for me (bundled with internet I already had)
I've had Uverse, DTV and Cox in the last five years. I'm glad we didn't take down the dish, probably going to go back eventually.
