Yep after watching that video sounds like the guy waited until he was digging in his back pocket to tell the officer he had a permit and a gun. The officer freaked out and shoot. It was a bad situation, and I have a feeling the cop will face some charges for this.

Bottom line, most police shootings end up being justified.

That may be the legal result, but we both know that's not because they are exonerated in court. It's because most DA's don't like charging the police they rely on for convictions. It's an inherent conflict of interest.

Call me what you want, but I don't believe a word that comes out of this woman's mouth. "Machine guns at her back." Ok, yea, right.

not arguing that

He absolutely messed up as well

ETA: just looking at what we have on this situation at this moment. Was the cop wearing a body cam?

I won't rush to a judgment until the fact come out. What a terrible situation.

It also doesn't hurt that the system bails out risky behavior because the threshold for "fear for your life" is so low. I'm not suggest cops are out there trying to decimate civilians, but human nature will give you the necessary bravado to take on risky situations when you can be bailed out by shooting the suspect if it goes wrong.

that's not what it sounds like.
that's what you are assuming, and you don't have enough information to make any rational assumption.

uh yea that is what it sounds like as the woman said "he reached for his ID and said I have a permit and firearm". I understand this is only one side of the story.

Im curious of these words. Did he say " By the way officer. I am licensed to carry a gun and have one on me" or while reaching behind him say " I gots me a gun to ya herd". Obviously Im being sarcastic but her description of what was said and done and the results don't match up real well.

Yeah, obviously she's a liar and making up the entire story because she doesn't know the difference between long guns.

What a ridiculous thing to hold on to given both of her videos.

To be fair, they don't match up real well because you're assuming the officer was calm and in line. If you open yourself up to the possibility that the officer could be at fault then her story is much more plausible.

You can tell from the tone of his voice in the first video that the cop knew he f'd up. If it really went down like the girlfriend said (highly unlikely) then I have no problem with him getting charged.

So you know the guy and how is tone usually is? You realize that most likely the Cop thought that the guy was about to pull a gun on him, that the Cop thought his life was on the line, and then he had to just shoot a guy he thought was going to shoot him?

The cop thought he was about to get shot. You can't argue that. I'll agree that maybe the cop reacted too quickly and therefore killed someone that did not need to even be shot.

At the same time, if I'm carrying a gun and I get pulled over I take my wallet and ID out and put them on the dash. Then I take my gun out and put it in the glove box or back seat. The last thing anyone wants to do is have an up front conversation with someone while they are armed.

Has nothing to do with difference and everything to do with exaggeration.

No different than calling police terrorists or calling questionable shootings executions. All it does is make people ignore you.
