Wow. That is entirely irresponsible for a governor to do.

That is irresponsible to say unless he's got some substantial evidence to support that claim.

I haven't bought any of these stories as actual police brutality without cause. This is the first one where I actually believe that this was a murder without cause and that the officer should be indicted and tried in a court of law. Yes she may be trash, but we aren't killing any person without reason. The guy had a clean record and a job. The story has been the same throughout the event so far. And there was no altercation or any sign that police should have been suspicious of him

Yeah, and I can't think of anything off the top of my head outside of the officer saying something racist before, during or after the shooting and I'd think that the girlfriend would have said something about it during the video.

I mean even it is true - I cannot imagine how he can validate that claim - you've basically put up a bat signal for unrest.

This is like exhibit A in how NOT to lead your state.

I've been critical of the situation, but this is some incendiary shite to spout off...

quote:

"Would this have happened if ... the driver and passenger were white?" he asked. "I don't think it would've. So I'm forced to confront and I think all of us in Minnesota are forced to confront that this kind of racism exists."

and then this...

quote:

He said no one deserves to die during a traffic stop for a tail light.

That shite is just as asinine as someone saying Alton Sterling was killed for selling CDs. The banality of the original stop doesn't preclude the situation from turning deadly.

One thing that I still don't understand about this whole video is that fact that there are 5 cop cars at the scene. I have never seen 5 cop cars show up for a traffic stop for a tail light being out. If this video was really started RIGHT AFTER the guy was shot there would not have been enough time for 5 cops to show up on the scene.

There is WAY more to this traffic stop than what is shown in the original video.

Ding ding ding. The cop may have shot him illegally, but saying it was "murder" is atrocious. The cop didn't wake up and say I'm going to shoot the first black guy that we pull over today. For one reason or another, Castille made the cop fear for his life. Whether or not that turns out to be justified is the only thing left to solve. I don't believe for a second the cop woke up that day wanting to shoot someone though.
