I think there are a bit too much credits in Louisiana, but it does take a good bit of load off of our electrical grid. So that helps a bit.

I have been looking at doing this.

South Carolina is finally starting to ease up on solar. I have the space to install panels at ground level.

Are ground level panels preferable over roof? Or does it really matter?

Depends on your preference. You'll get more bang for your buck on the roof, it's an easier install.

However ground racks are nice because there are no holes in the roof.

It's personal preference.

I endorse his message. Besides, my HOA won't allow those hideous systems to be put into our neighborhood. I'm not sure if I like that or not?

I don't know about Louisiana, but in SC, our power company is horrible and crooked. I'd install solar just out of spite to the power company.

It's thinking like this that is retard.
The electric company you hate just got you to fork over money so they can save money on producing electricity.

You're also going to be sitting at home with no lights when the power goes out just like everyone else without a generator.

You are no less dependent on the electric company than you were before, yet you did find a way to save them money. Way to stick it to them.

It's actually better for them to be off the roof. The roof gives off heat which Lowes the panels effenicy

With a 6.5 KW system there's no way you save $100 in a month. Depending on what you use during the 8/10 hour period you're producing. For working folks most of your usage is when the sun is down. If you're using 3 KW during the day and producing 6, you're sending back 3 KWH per hour which isn't a lot. You're probably only going sending back 24 KWH per day at best. At the very best you'd save $75 a month unless you work that shite like a champ (I.E. Do more shite that uses electricity during the day and less at night).

I get what you are saying, but the same can be said for all of our taxes. Why am I paying to subsidize farmers? Why am I paying to subsidize TOPS scholarships? Why am I paying for your grandmother's Medicare? Why am I paying to subsidize oil companies' exploration costs?

To the OP, if you want solar panels, knock yourself out! I move too often to get em, but if I was in a single place for more than 4-5 years, I would get them.

My $11 bill two months ago and my $110 bill during the summer(down from $250 the year before) says otherwise.
