No trust me i knew there would be the usual your still breaking the law comments which i honestly do understand, but it seems like there is more things to worry about than a guy driving down the road doing the speed limit with dark windows, like i said if i was speeding then yes write it all up, as far as learning my lesson the tint is stripped but im not going to fish bowl completely, it will have some extent of tint on it

There is no logical excuse in what you say. Cops can stop you for illegal matters regardless of what they are. You had illegal tint. You can be stopped and ticketed. Doesn't matter how serious it is.

I guess if I'm shoplifting a pack of gum rather than an ipad, I shouldn't be arrested because it's such a small thing.

I'd think you could file a complaint for that.

Good old corruption. You are working your way up the crime ladder quickly.

Just curious, if you live in a state where the heat can be extreme for months out of the year (i.e Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, etc) shouldn't there be a sliding scale for what's legal tint? Nothing worse than getting in a car that's been sitting all day in the parking lot of a ball tournament. Louisiana is a heck of a lot different than New Hampshire.

In St. Francisville? Not really...

And did you seriously post a picture of your bawed up truck as some sort of subtle brag?

How do you get an inspection sticker with illegal tint? Thought they were supposed to check that?

Depending on where you go or how lazy the guy is they dont check it.

Most cops exercise a great deal of discretion in respect to window tint. But it only takes one to feel like being a dick to ruin your day. Personally I think the legal limits are way overkill.

I don't know how dark your tint is but when I was younger I had 20% all around and never once had an issue. Now if you have 5% or something you're just asking for it. But the actual legal limits are pretty ridiculous for areas that have hot arse summers. Imo.

Agreed, but you can blame other people for this. Cops do get a little excessive with this at times but there is a law against it. Just pay the fine and quit whining.

This place is fill of "small government conservatives" who are more than will to bend over backwards for any level of government intrusion into the lives of citizens including the execution of citizens by said government.

I'd much rather pay him tax dollars to enforce the law than to not enforce the law.

But the real question I have is why does anyone own a vehicle and then perform aftermarket modifications which take it out of compliance with the law and expect anything difference than the fines that are described in the law?

I usually put 35% on my cars. Never been specifically pulled over for it, I get ceramic for the heat rejection. As for inspection stickers, just get a 2 year before you put the tint on. I rarely keep cars much longer than 2 years. If I do, I peel off the fronts, get sticker, go directly back to tinter and get front sides redone. I've never done the windshield and 35% is pretty light but if I get pulled over and get a ticket, I'll smile, take it and pay it. If it keeps happening i'll reassess. The heat rejection is worth it. We have a 3 car garage but we only keep 2 in there and have 4 cars between my wife and I. Something is always out in the heat.

The law says you were doing something wrong, you were driving a vehicle in which the tent was darker than the law allows.

It might not seem like a big deal, but the fact is.. You run a risk anytime you do not comply with the law.

The intrusion is there and the consequences are defined. Fighting dumb laws is admirable.

Ignoring dumb laws and crying when you are found at fault is a concept I don't understand.

If I get a ticket for the 35% on my vehicle I'm going to lose my fricking mind and probably get shot.
