Gen X doesn't whine. Our parents were either at work or busy with their new spouses and children when we were growing up so we learned to either fix the shite ourselves or DGAF about it. We know how to pick our battles.

When we were teens and wanted to rebel we wore dark clothes and Doc Martens and listened to grunge/alternative on MTV 120 minutes.

We didn't have groups of boys idolizing My Little Pony. We didn't have groups dressing as giant furry stuffed animals. If you were fat....you were fat and rightfully shamed for it. We didn't get offended at every fricking thing we heard or read.

Have you been triggered or something? Do you need a safe space? Go rock in a corner & suck your thumb until the mean Gex Xs stop laughing at a reminiscent and humorous article and making fun of your generation. That's not whining and your asshurt is just further proof of your need to make everything about you.

Reality Bites was a good flick.

Movie made me realize there was now a generation younger than me and I immediately looked down on them as my dad had looked down on beatniks and hippies.

You and your fellow Gen Xers are apparently the ones that need a safe space. Weekly, y'all start a thread bitching about other generations. Maybe y'all should STFU and stop whining

Generation X is beyond all that bullshite now. It quit smoking and doing coke a long time ago. It has blood pressure issues and is heavier than it would like to be. It might still take some ecstasy, if it knew where to get some. But probably not. Generation X has to be up really early tomorrow morning.

Right now, Generation X just wants a beer and to be left alone. It just wants to sit here quietly and think for a minute. Can you just do that, okay? It knows that you are so very special and so very numerous, but can you just leave it alone? Just for a little bit?

I'll drink to that...

It's funny to watch Reality Bites now and remember what a huge scare AIDS was. Everyone was going to get AIDS! And then they didn't. A real time capsule. And filmed in my home town, Houston, of all places. I can't think of any other movie that is so prominently set in Houston, aside from one part of Boyhood.

You're definitely an outlier, go cry somewhere else.

Only problem is here in Louisiana, while the Reagan economy was booming nationally, as always Louisiana was bucking the trends. Oil patch went bust in the middle 1980s as most petroleum companies consolidated in Houston. There are still effects of this now in some folks' minds. Lotta folks I knew who were making serious money around the turn of the decade/1980 were hurting and scrambling for work just four years later.

This is my last post. Every generation has idiots and losers. Every generation has people that will do great things. People will always look to the generations under them and think they are the ones that will crash the earth. Been that way for centuries. I just find it amusing tigerdroppings and gen X in particular is so enamored with generational pride and bashing. Congrats, your parents banged and made you in a certain year. That is all your generation says about you.

I hadn't yet made it to the third page of this shitshow.

And fellow youngins need to get over all this. It offends most of us because for the most part the shite said is very true. I don't care for the word "millennial" because it's a specific sounding word for a very arbitrary time frame, but some people act like that's their n word or something.
