As long as he does it legally, who gives a shite?

But really, why kill an elephant? No clue where the appeal comes from

I think the point is that it shouldnt be illegal but since it's easier to throw haterade on the hunter than to get laws changed in Africa from the US, thats what people do.

I agree that it's pointless to kill an elephant or rhino with a gun. Why would you want to? Not going to eat it.

Why hunt an elephant? They are extremely smart and are the largest animal on the planet. It would seem they are an easy target, but the kill zone is fairly small. This requires working in close where there is a bit of danger. Do we want to feed starving Africans? Take a look and the celebration when an elephant hits the ground. Many Africans will eat for days.
Lastly, hunter dollars puts a value on the animal. This leads to a sustainable population being kept around. Most often, elephant hunts are very selective and remove old animals, male and female, that are far past their prime or ones who have been trampling and destroying crop fields.

Same. I would 100% never ban trophy hunting or boycott or feign outrage over those that do - two of my best friends are big into traveling internationally to hunt - but it's just not my thing and I "get it" less and less as the years roll on.

Yes, the meat is ate.

He is an OT baller. To hunt these animals, one stands as they charge you and one shoots them at less then 50 yards away. Got to have some balls to do that.

But, as to why, IDK. I wouldn't hunt them if I could afford to. 350K, that helps to fight the poachers.

Hogs are an entirely different deal. Hogs are an overpopulated nuisance that is destroying the landscape. They're not rare trophies killed for sport, they're giant rats killed to stop them from destroying agriculture and property, which is a battle we're actually losing. I support baiting them and blowing them up with tannerite or mowing them down from helicopters, whatever.

Support elephant hunting or terrorism...you decide.

LINK

The poachers will often leave the meat to rot because they quickly want to get the tusk and leave. A legally hunted elephant, on the other hand, will feed a village. Again, you decide who you support in this situation.
