From this side of the gate, Hell doesn't look so bad. Scripture says most of these "smart heathens" will wind up there, sucking up the brimstone.

This is why I moved my family to a county that is 80+% religious. People are much nicer and crime is very low. This country needs more Jesus in their lives.

The Bible is pretty clear narrow is the way to heaven. Biblical Christianity isn’t based on appealing to the masses. Maybe this is separating the wheat from the chaf.

the Council of Nicea.....lulz

Your guidance was based upon a room of voters that had their own human priorities.

Also, the stories about Jesus...they are specific stories that would be the equivalent of someone writing about a person today when they lived in the late 1700s (like George Washington)

So I’m assuming you were at the counsel or is your guidance based on reading something someone else wrote?

The council of nicea was where the books of the Bible were voted on. It is documented fact, unlike the stories of Jesus the Nazarene.

As long as you are generally a good person, care for other people, etc you will be fine if there is an after life (which I believe there is)

I'm an Anglican ( catholic with a lower case c) and I'm pretty sure neither of our Bibles nor our catechisms teach that.

We're we able to be good and keep all of God's ways perfectly Jesus would be superfluous. The Incarnation, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, and the Ascension would be unnecessary and moot.

Talk to your priest about this. I'm not diminishing being good and kind, I just don't think Roman Catholics believe being nice is good enough to get to heaven. Otherwise what is Mass all about anyway?

I could be wrong about this though.

Do you have so little regard for integrity and value for your fellow man that you would rape, rob, and murder other people unless you believe in God? If your child was an atheist, would be concerned that they would be a sociopath? What does that say about your parenting?

Your missing the point. Your can’t selectively choose when to apply the criteria of truth. You weren’t at the counsel or to see the life of Jesus. Just because you choose not to believe it doesn’t make it any less of a fact.

I figure if God was able to create the universe, all the things of this planet (including ourselves), etc. - it's no big whup to make sure the Council of Nicea vote went his way (if he's God and it's his Word of guidance to us).

If it helps some people to live better lives why does it matter (to call them weak-minded)?

Sesame Street taught values too. Are they weak-minded?

EDIT: I didn't down vote you, btw.

And that church was led by Jeremiah Wright who constantly bashed white people. No wonder he attended church. The other times, he probably went to the nearest mosque.
