You don't think that people that live outside the city don't shop in BR? Hell, I want my taxes back then.

IMO, the infrastructure most in need of expansion are the neglected state highways.

EBR tax payers have paid for major improvements to state highways like Perkins, Highland, Burbank and others because the state can't.

I would Upvote this post a gazillion times if I could. My road rage is never higher than watching those selfish idiots bring traffic to a halt because they went into an intersection full well knowing they would end up clogging it up. BRPD would make bank writing tickets just at Perkins and Essen and Perkins and Bluebonnet every afternoon.

bet if you put all this planning and construction in the hands of the private sector we could get 2-3x more done with that money.

Kinda pointless and probably cost prohibitive.

since the gas tax didn't pass, you are going to see the state almost stop doing capacity projects and just do maintenance.

What about the current gas tax use then? Where is that money going.

Her problem is that the people w/ $$$ (and property) in EBR are getting pretty tired of fricking taxes, especially when they see the bullshite like COA was (and is) doing.

Yes, they are outnumbered by the renters/Section 8 people that will dutifully go and flip the switch to take more of other people's money, but those other people had the option of getting the frick out of EBR and going to another parish.

There is a substantial level of distrust of government, and of this mayor in particular. This is the same reason the gas tax failed this year. Government pisses the money away that it lies to obtain.

Absolutely not pointless. That's the biggest choke point in the state right now and is the direct cause of daily traffic jambs and frequent accidents.

Widening that 5 mile stretch of I-10 is a priority for the state, and is absolutely critical to get traffic moving in the capital region again.

LA DOTD site on I-10 cooridor widening - LA415 to College Drive

I-10 widening project information - LA DOTD

Everything is cost prohibitive when you are broke and spend your money on stupid shite. That doesn't change the fact that the decking, lighting, and lane configuration hasn't been updated since it was originally constructed in 1960. There are no shoulders for most of it, no sound walls, poor alignment, and not enough lanes. There's another 650,000 people in the Baton Rouge metro now as well as a significantly higher number of long haul trucks that have no alternative but I-10 and I-12 through Baton Rouge.

Exactly, and its almost criminal when you think about public safety, cattle falling off a ramp, and all the issues with the initial design.

The entire set up was defective from day one, and has only gotten worse.

The fact that other than restriping lanes, and installing some warning signs; neither the Feds or the State has done anything to fix the problem in 57 years says it all.

Yet the Feds and the State have spent millions of dollars in Louisiana on less critical projects. Its almost as if they don't want the problem fixed so they can point to this problem and tell us how bad we taxpayers are for letting this happen.
when the truth is we trusted our leaders and they let this happen.

I've seen a lot of those going up around town. They aren't the nicest shelters I've ever seen, but a whole lot better than a random sign stuck in 3' high grass.

Ascension and Livingston would be just fine if people from BR would stay in BR.

And if EBR hadn't screwed up its school system, they would have done just that.

That's what will be used to do the maintenance. The state has a huge maintenance backlog because of insufficient funding.

Yet most of the people living in both parishes travel to or through EBR for work every day.

People from BR is why those parishes aren't the dumps they were 20 years ago.
