Ascension and Livingston would be just fine if people from BR would stay in BR.

The Baton Rouge region would be much better if people were less parochial and politicians cooperated to achieve regional goals.

Livingston and Ascension are part of the Baton Rouge metro. People travel back and forth between those areas all the time, and they should plan for growth together. You can personally move away, but Ascension and Livingston will always be next to East Baton Rouge.

Pragmatism must be prioritized over principle or racial bullshite. That isn't specifically directed towards the suburbs either.

Current money will go towards maintenance.

keeping on widening will only get you so far. Its going to be far too expensive to widen all those bridges and acquire all the right of way. A better more cost effective solution would be to construct elevated interstate all the way through baton rouge from the bridge. Examples are Houston and New Orleans. Pretty much any other city with this similar problem

So nothing about traffic on interstate or Miss Bridge?

To be fair, local government has very little control over interstate construction/improvement.

What is needed, however, is a series of expressways running North and South, and East and West through BR.

I assure you, the quality of life was much better in both parishes 20 years ago.
