Well this woman did it with 70 pounds in 2:45

I can respect the fact she did this...but seriously, all this non-combat veterinarian horse shite is an excuse.
Your first job is to be a soldier, and your second involves your job classification. Scouts, Artillery, Personnel, Finance...all required to maintain the basic soldier skills, which includes ruck marches. My unit would ruck 15k to the rifle range, hold weapons qualification all day, and then ruck back.

Don't overstate your case. The EFMB is an accomplishment, no doubt, but half of that list is comprised of shite like putting your pro mask back in it's case.

Apparently he's a big softy (personality wise obvi) and his hobby is rolling sushi
I'm set to play golf with him and a couple other guys. I'm gonna lobby hard to share a cart with him so I can small talk and ask BUDS questions.
Those guys are like superheroes in my mind

you sound like the type who was a massive titty baby whining about everything during pledgeship and then suddenly morphed into the worlds biggest hardcore hazing badass who cant understand why the new pledges are so weak the following year.

Actually, I do, at least as far as the road march is concerned, and because I do, I can honestly say it is not worth the big deal that some of you seem to think that it is.
Well then just back out of this thread because you either don't want to or can't comprehend that this march was after days of other physical and mental exhaustion. It's impressive and anyone that says it isn't is just being a dick.

Not reading all the pages to see if someone has already pointed this out, but they are required to carry a standard combat load of over 40 pounds for that march. For someone who probably weighs about 120 carrying that much for 12 miles is hard work.
ETA: Apparently someone else is saying 70 pounds. However much she carried, it is much harder than an idle stroll in the park.

Article said she was carrying 70lbs.

Sounds like you should have been a veterinarian.

Why didn't they move the range closer to the barracks? That seems stupid to have to have to walk that far whenever you want to practice shooting....or at least they could have provided you with busses so you could spend more time there.

News story said she had 70lbs in the ruck. I'm calling bull shite on that, though
Yea. Absolutely no fricking way.
A 25 year old male in pretty good shape is going to be struggling to get that time with 70 pounds. She probably had the standard 35 pound pack that's the minimum.
Long rucks are difficult. I applaud her for having the gumption to finish, and that's a good time for a woman, but this is one of the parts of the combat arms where women really, really struggle.

The requirement is 12 miles in 3 hours, that's a 4mph pace (moderate walk) with a weighted ruck. That's the standard and apparently only about 1/5 pass. They didn't change the standard for her. I'm Navy and haven't had the pleasure of a long march, but it seems like she did something that the vast majority of soldiers who think they're fit couldn't pull off.
This is what I understood form my first hearing of the event. Glad to know you have verified it to your satisfaction.
Good for her - and I am proud of her and the support she got from her comrades. I don't know how long she had been struggling, and I wonder if she could have finished without their encouragement.
It's all good

Time is not an issue. You spend plenty of time at the range. The ruck is for conditioning. Occasionally, we got to ride in "cattle car" trailers.
