Double stacks vs single stack. Was the kind of pistol used ever released, other than the caliber?
Posted on 4/23/16 at 9:42 am to Placebeaux
Couldn't they test for gun powder residue on Smith's hand to determine if he shot a weapon?
Posted on 4/23/16 at 9:43 am to BrotherEsau
So it should be pretty easy to determine if more than one gun was fired based on the type of .45 he had.
Let's hope NOPD is competent enough to figure that out.

This shite is crazy. If Smith accidentally shot his wife first, they will probably have to drop the murder charge.

Pierre Thomas could be in a lot of trouble too.

Oh shite. This dude is about to walk and get paid again.
Get real. He followed them and rammed him from behind. Although it seems Smith was not totally calm....he still has every reason to think he was in danger.
Smith may have hit him from behind earlier....everything that happened after that was because of Hayes' actions.
And that's not touching the parts about Hayes being someone with a record and having no permit to conceal carry and Smith's gun being properly licensed.

I'm not fully getting why anyone would make a coverup like this.
Their friend Will was dead, a terrible thing. How much does it help the situation to make it appear Will was a complete victim? Was supposedly sending the shooter away for a long time (maybe wrongfully) worth altering a crime scene?
And didn't Will's wife already make a statement saying nothing about the new allegations? Why would a bereaved wife lie about something just to maybe make the killer look worse? Seems like she would have other things on her mind other than making illegal statements just to seek out revenge on the shooter.

So Hayes hit him from behind = everything that happaned after that was because of Hayes' actions.
Smith hits him from behind = free pass.
Come on, hitting from behind does not mean you shoot someone. We do not know who threatened to shoot or shot first.

Yeah but its a shame when all that can be throwed out the window due to a bad/corrupt investigation.

And yet, if a jury starts hearing evidence of shady police antics, it will likely provide enough reasonable doubt. Just like the OJ case. Inept cops not doing a thorough investigation, or playing loose goose with the rules will allow a murderer to walk.

There are going to be indictments in this case but the indictment isn't going to be the person think it will be. The DOJ thought is going to bring the indictments not Cannizaro.
Everything that is wrong with New Orleans is encapsulated in this case. Just think if this kid didn't have a few dollars and was poor he would be looking at a death penalty case.

One thing is a an absolute certainty and that is Hayes is not walking but strutting.
