WWL
Didnt the retired cop say he wasn't at the scene?

Cops are looking very seriously now into some witness reports and allegations that the former Saints player retrieved a gun from his car before he was shot and killed in a confrontation with another driver.
quote:
The source tells WWL First News that detectives are investigating if it was actually Smith who accidentally shot his wife as she intervened to try and stop the confrontation.
quote:
One of the men Smith had been eating with just before his killing, Reserve Police Officer Billy Ceravolo, has now hired a lawyer.
That comes amid allegations he helped put Smith's gun back in the car after the shooting. Investigators want to know if he helped cover up the truth. The retired NOPD captain has since been stripped of his reserve status with the department.

Surveillance video shows Ceravolo at the crime scene, with what appears to be a badge around his neck, after Smith was killed.

My brother texeted me this yesterday. I'm not a gun expert so maybe others can weigh in. Interesting nonetheless.
Apparently a .45 holds 8 in the clip.

So all they released about the type of gun Hayes shot will smith with is that it was a .45. Hayes says will smith shot first hitting his wife twice as she tried to stop him. Smith was shot 8 times and hayes's gun had 1 left in the chamber when the cops got there. 8 shots in will, 2 in his wife, 1 still in the chamber.

Ben Coleman will not be pleased if this is true.

That's entirely dependent on the gun.

If Smith's gun has been fired that would be impossible to cover up.
Same if different slug patterns found at the scene.... Assuming some didn't turn up missing.

Well that didn't fit in the space aloud.
Silly to interpret witness statements as allegations I guess.

I'm in favor of the FBI stepping in. The corrupt NOLA officials involved can get away with their antics playing to a local system but the comedy of errors coming out of this situation will collapse spectacularly under outside scrutiny.

quote:Yep. A colt 1911 holds 7 in the magazine and another round chambered, if I recall correctly. An H&K .45 standard holds 10 in the magazine with one chambered I think.
That's entirely dependent on the gun.
Different guns, different capacities.

FYI, the correct term is magazine, not clip.

Did anyone ever say if Hayes could legally own a gun or if it was stolen?

At NOPD, ineptitude, ignorance, laziness, greed and dishonesty are always in-play.
If the negative qualities there were in a race, it'd be too close to call.
With this understanding, nothing that has happened, is happening or will happen can be shocking.
The first rule there is self-preservation, not public safety or service.

Is it common to hold 11? That's how many bullets that have been accounted for in the shooting.

Twice?

Yes, most .45s that are not 1911s hold 10+1 in the chamber. 1911s are usually 7+1, occasionally 8+1.
