Everyone in New Orleans has been physically assaulted and robbed. Don't you know?

I don't get the Classic bashing. We are in the quarter with kids. Went to the lights at City Park drove back to hotel around 9:30. There were a lot of people out but not acting any worse than any other Friday night in the FQ. I wouldn't have my kids out in the FQ ona weekend night regardless. Will be uptown most of today. Also have not noticed lots of businesses closed.

People lie. A. Lot.

Honestly it's like the stories of rape in the dome after Katrina. That didn't happen but everybody had a story or knew somebody that had been raped. Same with the bayou classic bashing and crime ... A lot of it is make believe

It's hard to believe that a longtime resident has not been the victim of a crime or known anyone who was a victim of a crime. A friend of mine was murdered in front of his wife during a robbery. Another friend killed a robber who brought a pipe to a gunfight. I've been the victim of property crimes when I lived there as have most of my friends. It's not uncommon in traditional NO neighborhoods, especially with the lack of secure off street parking. People acknowledge the dangers of the city and stay vigilant.

To say that NO's murder rate is at a historic low is also misleading.

quote:

But even with that effort, New Orleans still has a murder rate that's almost four times the average for a city its size — and much higher than big cities such as Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. By early July, murders hit triple digits, two months earlier than in recent years.

No other US city that tourists go to on a regular basis is as sketchy and dangerous as NOLA. I've never been scared in NYC, Chicago, Miami, LA, etc...

Lots of waiters in NOLA this week with sore feet from making so many trips to bring extra lemons and sugar packets to all the tables.

Can't possibly be related to the Bayou Classic being in town this weekend, could it?

I thought someone posted a link within the past few days that said the city was on pace to have its most murders in a number of years--something like a 30% increase. Isn't NO over 100+ murders right now?

I'm saying violent crime doesn't happen in front of the Royal Sonesta most other weekends.

What? I just told you that people were shot, in June 2014, just a couple of blocks up Bourbon. That's just one incident off the top of my head.

Just stop. There's many reasons why Bayou Classic weekend can make the Quarter more unenjoyable than most but gun crime isn't one of them.

I know this happened in the FQ but it seems like dindus are moving into the target rich environment Uptown. I don't know the stats but it seems like it.

I didn't say it never happens outside this weekend. You guys really could benefit from some remedial English courses.
