Thanks for the link. According to the site, your chances of being a victim of a violent crime were 1/124, and your chances of being a victim in a property crime were 1/25.

That's why it is hard to believe that someone that has lived in New Orleans for a long time doesn't know a single person that has ever been a victim of a crime. Possible, yes. Probable, no.

I'd guess they know people who've been hit in a property crime. They just don't realize it because they didn't hear about it.

Violent crime is less common, especially if you don't run with a certain crowd or live in certain neighborhoods.

So this is the only week it is an issue?

No. There was a shooting near Tropical Isle in late June of 2014 while I was there.

And then around August of that year as well.
and then there was that guy killed with a hammer on Burgundy a few weeks later...

And then the guy who was jacked with a beer bottle on Gravier a few weeks after that...

And then there was that triple shooting on bourbon....

And then there was...

You have to read all of his posts to understand that comment.

Apparently, he meant that for 51 weeks a year, being shot is not an issue ONLY directly in front of the Royal Sonesta. What happens a few blocks away from that one very specific area is not of any importance.

That's because the Royal Sonesta is safe... that one little area right in front.

The classic really has turned into such a small event now.

probably because Easton, 35, Landry Walker, and Karr put better teams on the field nowadays

Wasn't much work but thanks bud.

I get that you love New Orleans and it's home, and some of the people opposing you have said some incorrect things. But the phrase "loyal to a fault" comes to mind when I read your posts.

No matter what, NOLA will always be BRLA's and Laffy's Daddy. And that goes for every city in LA.

Another shooting a few blocks away.

Plus there were 4 robberies in the CBD last night.

More NOLA problems in supposedly safe/touristy places.

One of my AA FB friends just posted that they had a stampede. In the comments they went on to say thats the norm for Bayou Classic.

Don't worry, that's just one week of the year. Every other week New Orleans is completely safe.
