The Watcher mailed letters. I am sure they have DNA and/or fingerprints on them. I do not know how backed up the lab is up there but I guess it is a lot.
When caught, he will plead down to Illegible Handwriting and do about 48 hours in the county lockup.
I would also pay to walk a cadaver dog through the house if the local LEO's would not do it.

In face my attorney would contact the regular police to determine whether the previous owners reported this mess.
