the further you fall the harder you have to fight. Like the bullfrog in the heron's beak.... choke that bird don't let him eat you.

Keep the faith. Life throws everybody a curve ball. I give thanks for every day the Good Lord gives me. And yes, my world fell apart 6+ years ago, but I make the best of every day that I'm given.

Good things happen to bad people. Bad things happen to good people. There is no justice; in this life or the next. There is no cosmic karma. There is nothing you can do about it. That isn't depressing. It's freeing. All you can do is your best and bare through it. Keep on holding on. You got this.

I described it to someone as everyday I have to fricking fight to climb out of a box. Some days, I see the bigger picture. Then, the next day, I'm right in another box I have to fight out of. It's wearisome.

You're the most pretentious person on this board. Just thought I'd point that out.

I don't believe in "God" either, but I dont feel the need to be a pretentious prick about it.

Well, it depends on how you look at it. People are assholes, and if you let yourself depend on too many of them, you will never become true to yourself. People are also great and are capable of incredible generosity and love. It just depends on the perspective of the person seeking it.

If you take that harsh statement and not look at it so literally, you can find a silver lining. I take that as become more dependent on oneself and become more loving to oneself as opposed to seeking love from others. You will surely be disappointed because most people are incapable of fully loving and nurturing for no benefit to their own.

tup, a wise old man told me many years ago - depression kills more people than all other ills combined. It may not be the direct cause but it is the root cause.

take joy in the small victories......

if you are that wearisome.... get professional help.

One way to get out of it is understand that God doesn't exist, and if you think he does then read some basic history and realize that it's pretty unlikely that christianity is true.

People around here talking about "God's grace" saving them. LOL. We live in america and there are people dying all over the world from some of the most horrible causes that we will never be exposed to.

God doesn't care about your career, or your desires, because he doesn't exist.

This might sound like I'm trying to be inflammatory but I'm not. It's actual advice. Believing in something not real leads to inaction and a lack of appreciation of the lives we have. We can only guarantee that we have this one life we do now.

This is good advice as well.

I'm also in therapy once a week and that's been huge.

If so, how did you get through it?

In the past two years I've lost my sister to suicide, my aunt to breast cancer and my grandmother. Also just found out this month my mom is undergoing chemo for stage 3 breast cancer. Life really sucks sometimes, you just have to remember to be thankfuk for what you do have. Lean on your friends and family and if you need to don't be afraid to go talk to a counselor or something. It'll get better.

It's all about your perspective. When you think your life is bad go spend a day sitting in the surgery waiting room at a place like Children's Hospital... You will see in a few hours so many that are likely dealing with so much worse.

this is somewhat unfair

life can be shitty for both people. if you reduce it to the "Worst case" scenario, then only one person on earth can be sad on any given day

Be aware, we're placed in this life to struggle. How will you prepare yourself for eternal glory unless you've gone through struggles in this life? How would you even begin to appreciate the glory that is forthcoming if you've never experienced any pain this life?

I'd tell you that the saddest thing I've ever seen is a person who loses their faith while they go through a trial. Why? Because you'll still endure the trial, but there will be no benefit from the trial.

Stay close to God. Pray that you'll learn from these experiences and take from them what God would have you take. Pray that at the end of these trials, you'll be closer to God than you were before.

The answers will come after the trial of your faith. The answers don't always come in the form you think they should, but ultimately, you'll be happier with God's answers.

Best of luck to you and hang in there!
