Honestly I doubled down on God. I read everything Christian about the topic at hand (marriage) and tried to apply what I could. I also read Proverbs alot and spent more time in prayer than I ever had before. Talking to a professional is also quite helpful.

My mom's genetic tests were negative. But definitely something I will make sure all my doctors know and I'll be sure to get checked often.

Anyone ever notice that a lot of the "born again" Christians are the weak minded individuals whose life lives fell apart due to poor choices in the first place?

If it weren't true I very much doubt Christianity would have made it out of the first century.

There’s a story that I’m a fan of. It’s not in the bible. Don’t know where it came from, but I love the message.

Here is another story regarding hardship.

Perhaps (Taoist story)

There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. "Such bad luck," they said sympathetically. "Perhaps," the farmer replied.

The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. "How wonderful," the neighbors exclaimed. "Perhaps," replied the old man.

The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. "Perhaps," answered the farmer.

The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son's leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. "Perhaps," said the farmer.

Good fortune and misfortune can look very similar from within...it is only once you are through it that you realize which it was.

A few times. I too stopped thinking God played a part in my daily life. It is a silly concept really. Your decisions alone dictate your outcome. It has helped me to realize in reality, I control very little.

No I have never noticed this.

What I HAVE noticed is that those without faith feeling the need to tell others that faith is stupid and that God does not exist. It MAY NOT exist for them but that does not mean that is the only and correct path for all. So many have improved their own life and those around them through faith.

So, if God heals all, why would he destroy things to begin with? Isn't it like going to an orthopedic surgeon who broke both of your legs?

I am a Christian. I'm beginning to lose my faith, though, particularly in prayer.

These are completely legitimate questions and you shouldn't accept an easy bullshite answer like "he works in mysterious ways."

OP.....I see you read the Bible but try reading it with someone else. If you have some large churches in your area then think about joining a group bible study or a men's group. Don't try to boot strap this on your own...reach out to a professional and don't be afraid to get on some meds as that is what they are for. It will get better buddy.

Nope...I have noticed that trait among internet trolls and tough guys, however.

Love. Serve others. One step at a time. Forgiveness. AA if you have been dropped for the count by drink or drugs.

Then you obviously haven't been paying attention. I'm noticing a trend.

I've had a shitty few years. A friend sent this to me last year, and I have it bookmarked to read regularly. Some of the advice on the list is trite, but a lot of it has been helpful for me. Particularly the ones on self care, connecting with friends, and finding new hobbies. If I take care of myself, I'm happier all around.

I feel for you as I have had some significant downers in my life. No matter how bad it can get better.
When you feel like you are getting hit from all sides, it's important to take stock of what you have control over and what you don't. Things like health issues of loved ones, loosing a family member or friend or your own health concerns have limited options to control.
But sometimes we don't realize that we can control what is going on. Exiting a bad relationship, issues around a bad job situation offer opportunities not only to stop a bad situation but improve upon the situation as well.
You just to step back and see what needs to be done.
In any event, good luck to you. Things can get better.

I'll just say this.
There isn't a person posting or reading this thread or board or website that doesn't have problems.

If you think your life is great and you dont.....just wait.

On a personal note I'm in a pretty bad spot right now.
I lost my job in June for reasons not of my own doing and ive been beating myself up over it ever since, trying to makes some sort of sense about it.
I can't.

I had my first interview this week.
1st.

I'm currently sitting here waiting to see if I get an offer. It's depresses me and worried me to no end.
I have a family and obligations like many here.

It's easy to say "it'll all work out" and truthfully one way or the other it all ways does. Doesn't make me feel any better today or past couple months though.

I try focusing on one thing, that's thing I can control which is my attitude.
I believe there's a better day coming for me and my family.
Could be today? IDk.

I continue to pray about it daily and keep my head up.
That's all a man can do.

I hope your situation gets better soon and look back on this as something made you a better stronger person.
