Nuttier than squirrel turds...I LIKE THAT!

Yeah, it's almost worth it just to watch these people strut around like they got the deal of the century. But I still am pissed they walked away with the item I wanted. However, I take solace understanding that at least I didn't pay two or three times the actual value on something used.

Now original oil paintings are another story....

Things do not have some intrinsic value beyond which is absurd or ridiculous, they are worth only what someone is willing to pay for them.

I got some recognition!!!!

I actually agree with him as well, estate sales and especially auctions are way over priced. I only hunt for stuff the sellers don't realize they don't have.

They're miserable. Most of the good stuff sells privately before the public viewing too. Ex: Don't expect to go and find a Rolex for $50. They sell those out to connections prior to the events. So have fun picking through busted as Seikos listed for $100 over what they're worth.

She's like Hansel from Zoolander right now. I've had more clients put shiplap in their house than anything else (got it floor to ceiling in laundry, mudroom, and kids office so guilty as well). And it cost nothing. It's cheap. Subway tile? Shiplap? Simple base and crown trim? Builders love this chick.

n fact I'd say flipping houses was actually more popular 10 years ago.

There were some big margins to be made 20 years ago in larger markets. El grande margins.

How do average folks know when and where private sales occur? Do they sell these items strictly to business connections or do they allow people in the know to attend those sales?

All through previously established business connections and the public never gets a chance at them. Same thing with watches/jewelry that insurance companies get after claims.

What about legitimate art? I assume the same thing...

That means if you purchase a quality item at an antique store or online you're probably paying 4 times its real value.

Right, so purchase items today new. Save them for a long time and sell for 4x profit.

The real value is determined by what people will pay for it. If they are able to get four times the price of what it was just two years ago and that is the true current value.
