His hyperloop idea is in heavy testing and his theories on it have proven accurate. We could see active Hyperloops within 20 years

Uhhh... you sure about that? It hasn't even been tested yet you're already saying 20 years?

Have you ever asked someone at NASA or JPL about the quality of SpaceX?
By someone, do you know mean the ones at NASA who are choosing to use SpaceX to haul astronauts to and from the ISS?

I can admit that I have not asked one of them, but based on the contract, I am going to make an educated guess that they think highly of the quality of SpaceX.

Lol. Might want to step away from the Elon Musk propaganda for a bit. You kind of seem a bit over the top after reading a few of these things. You'll be disappointed for sure.

Uhhh what? It has been tested. It's in heavy testing. They just achieved 220mph a couple of months ago.

Hyperloop One will likely have the first active loop in Dubai by 2019, FYI.

Wait, so you think NASA is not impressed with the quality of SpaceX but still put their faith in the safety of their astronauts with SpaceX?

Wow, that thought of yours is wayyyyyyy out there.

What did I say that you disagree with?

I like how people think the government is seeking him out and begging him to take their money.

The concept has been around in one form or another since WWII. Werner von Broun proposed a transcontinental bomber that would accelerate into near space, then do a series of skips across the upper atmosphere. It was never more than a concept until the USAF updated into the BOMARC program in the 1960's. That got shelved in favor of other ideas, but there is speculation we have a currently working black project that uses this technology. Musk is apparently using the same concept. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I'm skeptical about the cost factor.

Half of the trip would be free falling. So in theory it could be economical.

The ignorance in this thread is overwhelming. You can forget anything about tesla and hyper loop you want but this guy has done more at spacex than any other country including ours in the aerospace industry have dreamed about in the last ten years. He is landing rockets when everyone thought it was impossibly and driving down the cost of access to space exponentially. He can’t ever make a deadline but can you blame him considering the things he’s trying to achieve.

He's not the first guy to have big ideas, but he's one of the most prominent guys to put a deadline or target date for those ideas. On average, he misses those targets far more often than he makes them. Again, that's not debatable.

If Elon Musk says something is going to happen, he might be able to deliver. If he says something will happen by a particular date, you can pretty much ignore it.

You're right. He BUILT A frickING ROCKET THAT LANDS AND IS REUSED, but frick him because he was optimistic about when he'd accomplish it.

That’s not ever considering the Merlin and Rapot engines he developed or the automated avionics. It’s amazing how the us population lost all fascination with space and has no clue what’s going on.

He just needs a $5 billion subsidy from the US to make it happen.
