Because he will convince the government to pay for 85% of it.

By convince the government, do you mean that he'll just take advantage of a subsidy that the government is offering that anyone who could pull it off could have used the subsidy?

It's awfully convenient.

The bottom line is you cannot take him seriously.

Seems pretty obvious the reason, no?

Wait, the guy is a fraud that you can't take seriously...the same guy that has created the first new and legit car company since...I don't know when, is well on his way to creating the Hyperloop, and has created a freaking reusable rocket?

That guy you can't take seriously?

shel, you cannot take him at his word. That is not debatable. You're giving him a pass because he's making progress on the big picture ideas, but his comments and promises are often delayed considerably, if they come to fruition at all.

He is the antithesis of under promise, over deliver.

They're a "private" company doing many of the things NASA used to do. They can land their rocket so it is reusable. What else am I missing?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh...this is the biggest breakthrough in space travel since the moon landing. It is a very, very, very big deal for a variety of reasons. Its not hyperbole to say it is something that could change the world.

For sure, but it doesn't make Musk a fraud any less.

Dude. Just because he has a lot of ideas doesn't make him a fraud.

Google what is going on with the Hyperloop right now. Active, live, full scale testing on tracks with increasing speeds that match the theories. I said 20 years...but we will see human trials of Hyperloop within a year or two.

Sounds like you're just being too literal or something.

Based on everything he's done, I can just as easily say, Slackster you can't count him out and say he can't do it. That is not debatable. Right?

Again, that's exagerrated to a large degree. You know why, so I'm not sure why you keep glossing over it.

He is the antithesis of under promise, over deliver.
And he's over delivered in many cases like we've never seen before, but he's a fraud who can't be taken seriously?

I'd do it first once it's deemed ready for public use, sure.

The energy needed to get off the ground and to reach escape velocity are drastically different. It will probably just go to the upper atmosphere. Also, they'll probably be taking a massive loss on tickets early on but feel it's worth it in the long run.

At a bare minimum, you cannot take his timeline for these ideas seriously.

He's not the first guy to have big ideas, but he's one of the most prominent guys to put a deadline or target date for those ideas. On average, he misses those targets far more often than he makes them. Again, that's not debatable.

If Elon Musk says something is going to happen, he might be able to deliver. If he says something will happen by a particular date, you can pretty much ignore it.

Amazing! It usually takes months or years to build a rocket.

Agreed...and again, I think you know why, but you're refusing to acknowledge that...not sure why?

Fair enough, I'll stand by my statement that's it's pretty absurd to call a fraud the guy who has created the 1st car to enter the market in I don't know how long, is on track to create the hyperloop, and has created a reusable a rocket which is one of the great and monumental achievements that will change space travel as we know it.
