If you're asking, I have a small arsenal.

If the government's asking, I lost them all in a boating accident.

ou might want to call the police (non-emergency) line and report the suspicious behavior, in case someone else in the neighborhood got robbed or he comes back. They might be able to do extra patrols in the neighborhood or something.

This is the best idea and course of action to take.

Also, might wanna gun up bro. You can find a nice, cheap shotgun at a sporting goods store or pawn shop for around $240-350 if you don't have one already...

The first thing I asked her when she told me the story is if she remembers where her guns are.

She did.

what the frick does the thermostat have to do with any of that

To check for valuables. The thermostat is usually in the middle of the house and would give said robber a good look at what could be stolen.

Good man, we get a ton of foot traffic at all hours of the day and night on my street. We have no less than 3 long guns, a handgun, and a GSD between our bedroom and the front door. Taught my wife how to use all of them.

So he wanted to know if you had a security system (red flag!), when the man of the house is home (and by proxy NOT home), and to be shown the inside of the house to see something totally unrelated to his job which he had no documentation of (how was he going to sell you a system with no sales kit?)....

Call the police.

She didn't tell him when to come back to meet with you, did she?

She didn't tell him, but he said he would come back at 6:30.

It's now 7:00.

I don't think this guy is coming back.

I never answer the door when I'm home alone unless I know who's there. I don't want to talk to salesmen anyway.

I would at least ask my neighbors if they has the same issue.

If yes, file a report.

At a minimum it always makes me more comfortable to know my wife knows how to defend herself. I take her out to the range at least once a month.

Well, in theory he was atleast able to gather you are likely a 9-5er if she didn't object (ie confirmed you'd be home at 630)

I'd report it and have her be extra cautious with locked doors, closed windows etc... When home alone. Might ask a few neighbors both to see if they had an experience with him and to have them keeping an eye out in case they are unaware (both for you and them)
