I spent time there years ago, it's a pure 100% dusty shithole loaded with pocket rich oil/gas Baws.

The money is nice to have but there ain't shite to do and no poon, I banged a high school chick when I was there. I was probably 20 and she was (?).

Odessa. Blue collar
Midland. Pretense.

Family in odessa. O&G work. Ranch too.

Its in the middle of nowhere. Nothing to do at all.
quarterhorse racing in Ruidoso new mexico is a draw, which shows you, there no there there..
If you like ranch, great. If you have job, o&g, sure.

North tex state not too far if you just have to see a college game.

I am a stay at home guy so it's fine for me.

You must've lived there at the height of the oil boom at those prices. There's no way it's that high now.

I was just there last month. It's still that bad.

And everyone is definitely right that everyone leaves on the weekends, as the airport is packed on Friday evenings from everyone flying out.

They have an MRI machine and a doctor that tries to keep Odessa Permian players from playing when they play Midland

Wasn't Midland traditionally the "old money" and Odessa was the other side of the tracks?

Midland is where you live
Odessa is where you work

Andrews is a nice small town, but not much there
The Garlic Press in Midland is probably the best restaurant, the best bar is the Hemingway

I'm doing some research but nothing beats a local. What is it like?

Close your eyes and think of hell. This is Midland.

Unless you work there and are making $$$$, there is no other reason to be there.

My FIL has a facility out there that he flies to about once a month. His last plane ticket was over 1k. It's fricking ridiculous.

I have a friend who has been working out there for three years, and the dude is more depressed every time I see him. Don't do it.

Dated a girl from there who liked it in the pooper. Other than that I have nothing positive to say about that place.

I really also need to point this out as well if you are a single man: There are no hot single women there in their 20s. Zero, zip, nadda, none. Any girl you check out you immediately realize is underage, which makes it all the more depressing. Even at their Twin Peaks (in Odessa) I didn't find many of them attractive. The only time those ladies come back to Midland is when they've got a husband in tow who is making bank. In the meantime they live in Houston, DFW, or Austin, and they're no longer single.

You're going to likely be going on a dry spell or really, really lower your standards to women who frick people at the rigs. Near brothel levels of disgusting. Makes women from Boston look like models in comparison.
