Well I don't know you medical situation, but from your postings it does not appear that this is a minor issue. I also do not know if this is the first time you have seen this doctor or how familiar he/she is with your medical condition.
For complex medical issues (especially new problems), usually the doctor may not be able to treat and resolve the problem(s) on a first visit.
So to expect that the visit to this doctor will instantly make you medical problems subside... may be expecting too much. There are tests, labs, and a list of differentials that we must consider before arriving at a diagnoses and treatment plan. Which usually involve more than one single visit.

one thing that pisses me off is when pateints don't show up for surgery or their appointments. happens alot.
i agree with you. it sucks that it happens. it happens both ways unfortunately. sometimes for legit reasons. sometimes not.

I see these threads every now & then and it surprises me. I've never waited longer than 1 week for any dr appt, regardless of specialty. It would be awful to worry about something for a month before seeing a doctor.

None. They tell you to go to the ER.

That happens due to having to go back and do blood work over again or another EKG or throwing your butt into the hospital.
I fully understand that shite happens and my GP has to walk over to the hospital. BUT, more then 90% on the time, they over book him. So, I just don't go anymore.

He's the provider of the services. If you want said services you have to have them on his terms. If not, find a new doctor.

The more specific the specialty, the longer the wait IMO.

frequently, and I understand you didn't want this to be a bashing thread. You're good 'punkin.

I was more upset about my SO not being there. It helps to have another person there for emotional support and to hear what the doctor has to say as well. That way if they say something bad and my brain stops processing, I have another set of ears to hear them out and help make decisions.
But, it's all good. My mama just called and is driving in from BR to meet us. So, 2nd set of ears procured.

I run an office with 11 docs, and this is always one of my largest beefs with them.
It's probably 50/50 between real, legitimate reasons they need to reschedule you, VS reschedules simply for personal convenience or to "close gaps" in a schedule.
I spend alot of time on the phone with angry patients doing damage control for this situation. It sucks!

I work at a clinic, too. And we do reschedules for the same reasons but if the patient can't reschedule, we see them anyway. We never cancel a patient of they can't reschedule.

I would call and talk to the Dr's nurse. The appt. people are stupid.

Maybe the docs SO had an appointment and it got rescheduled and he needed to be with her?

Too bad he's a specialist in an area with few competitors.
I found another OB/GYN after the 3rd time she bailed on me with little notice, dumping me on her NP. I could have an appointment set up for months, and the office would call me a day or two before the appt & tell me the doctor wouldn't be able to see me, but I could see the nurse practitioner. (Otherwise I would have to wait another month or two for an appt with her.)
First time, no problem. Second time, I rescheduled with the actual doctor because I had some issues I wanted to discuss, and then right before the rescheduled appt they pulled the same crap trying to get me to see the NP. I know emergency deliveries happen in an OB/GYN practice, but this was ridiculous. I'd heard rumors that this particular doc preferred the OB side of her practice more, so I left and found someone who wasn't eager to pawn me off on someone else. I know two other of her patients who left around the same time I did for similar reasons.
Punkin, I'll keep my fingers crossed hoping everything works out ok for your little guy. Sometimes the answers aren't what we want to hear, but sometimes there can be a relief in knowing the answer none the less.
