We've had an appointment for a month (of course, that was the soonest available) for tomorrow. I took off work and my SO rearranged his schedule to be there. The nurse calls this morning and said that the doctor had a meeting canceled and needed to reschedule our appointment from 3:15 to 10:00 so he could leave early. We have 2 other appointments tomorrow, but this one is the most important. She said if we couldn't reschedule for 10:00, we'd have to wait for his next available. Now, my SO won't be there because he has a job bidding in the morning, and we probably won't make it back in time for the last appointment. I'm furious. Would you say anything to him?

You can say all you want. Won't change anything.

Obama and doctor privilege. Probably had a tee time he had to rearrange that affected your appointment.

Your only recourse is to fire the doctor. But all doctors do it, unfortunately.

I've never had that problem. Don't you know any doctors?

Apparenty. This was my schedule: 10:00 appt A (Covington), lunch, 2:00 appt B (NO), 3:15 appt C (NO). That worked. SO was going make the last important one.

Now: 10:00 appt C (NO), ...kill time....appt B 2:00 (NO), appt A 4:00 (Covington - if we make it back in time). My day is fricked because he wants to leave early.

Although rescheduling occurs, most of us try our best to keep our patient's inconvenience in mind. There are many reasons that rescheduling occurs and rarely is it due to an early tee time. Call and explain the situation to the receptionist and why you feel it important for your spouse to be there. If the receptionist stone walls ask to speak with the Office Manger but remain pleasant and calm. Most physician's staff deal with hot headed unreasonable patients all the time and become defensive quickly and may mislabel you if you fly off the handle.

I told the nurse today I didn't want to come to this appointment without my SO. She was very nice but said we'd have to wait otherwise.

ETA: I've had doctors reschedule before, of course. But, this was so last minute and the reason I was given was "he wants to leave early." That's really crappy.

Deal with it. It happens. Apparently you are seeking his help more than he is seaking your $$.

Did he say why he wanted to leave early?

Maybe something important came up. Doctors are people too.

No. She didn't say. I hope it's something important. I wouldn't be as upset. I'm mostly upset because now I have to go alone to a potentially big deal.
