To be perfectly honest, there's no SAFE areas in America with the direction we're going.

Some will just take longer to decline than others. Louisiana will only continue its decline, unfortunately. Places to hide will only get fewer.

I know y'all don't want to hear this, but if any city in Louisiana can do it, it's New Orleans. No other city in Louisiana has the amenities that most young grads want or can attract out of state hires. If crime got under control and a more business minded local government were elected, you'd see economic results pretty quickly. Not saying those things will happen, just that the odds are greater in New Orleans than anywhere else in Louisiana.

Only if Texas becomes an independent country and annexes Louisiana as a client-state.

So, if NOLA somehow ceased to be a majority black city.

There are few places nicer in Louisiana than St. Tammany. If they can get more affordable housing and diversify the tax base, it would cement its place as top, if not there already.

Instead of most promising, should say least bleak and that would be Lafayette. Shreveport and New Orleans have massive potential, but the people there have decided to just accept crime-ridden shithole status. For their size, Alexandria and Monroe are two of the most dangerous places in the country. They've quietly earned this dubious honor, but neither have the advantages of the other population centers of the state.

Shreveport has just unelected an awful Dem. mayor and elected an older, white GOP type who wears bow ties.
A little less than one year into the new Mayor's term homicides are up 34% and headed for a record. City services still awful. And, unless i miss my guess taxes or rates for services (or both) are about to go up again.
Point: the issue is not just political parties. Its more complex and intractable. Talented, energetic and ethical leaders are required and they need a plan.

I think you’re going to see more of this in central St. Tammany with the new highway being built. There are already subdivisions being built on both the southern and northern ends of the highway and it’s still several years out. There really isn’t a whole lot in that area and it could be a great place if developed right. I know people who are leaving Mandeville/Covington for a bit of “country living” similar to how people from the south shore moved north after Katrina.

The odds are against it and it is unfortunate.

A few short years my wife ( no pics) and I will retire and we will escape to a secret location. I don't want anyone from louisiana to follow us.

Bossier was here way before the white flight days, and it’s always been a pretty decent place to live. I know it’s popular on TD to bash all things Louisiana though.

Well he is not a dictator. I’m guessing that the city Council is mostly Democrats. I doubt he can just get anything through that he wants.

Very few. Everywhere, big city or suburb, is run by Good Ol' Boy networks... and our moronic citizens continue to vote them in. Not surprising from a state that worships people like Huey Long and Edwin Edwards.

Lafayette is not what it was pre-Katrina, and it is getting worse. There are many reasons why people are fleeing to Youngsville, Carencro, etc.
N.O. is done.
Baton Rouge is getting there. Even places like Zachary and Central are seeing flight across the Amite or into West Fel.
North Shore is overrun and can't keep up the infrastructure.
Anything North of Opelousas is not worth mentioning.

Tangipahoa has been a bit of a surprise as of late, with Medline investing $72M with their new facility and Niagara Bottling Investing $162M with their new facility. Quite impressive for the Hammond area.

St. Tammany has potential, but poor vision and leadership. Sucette Harbor is a prime example of 'not in my backyard'. Stirling Properties will strip mall the place to death.

frick that. Lack of "affordable housing" or a "diverse tax base" are one of the greatest assets to STP.

Take Youngsville, and then draw a circle down Ambassador to Kaliste Saloom and include the burgeoning Costco Corridor w/ a new(ish) hospital, Top Golf, D&B etc…

The Round-A-Bout Capitol of the World is the shining beacon of Louisiana currently
