It's older. The sprawl suburbs do look nice, all new construction.
Of course I personally hate the new cookie cutter, HOA driven areas.

Yes, kenner is ugly. I wish I lived in Colorado.

The ultimate litmus test is the grocery store parking lot.

I grew up my whole life in south LA, so I grew up thinking having carts scattered around the parking lot was standard operations.

When I lived in Nashville, I noticed it wasnt. All the carts were put up nicely. Nobody gives a frick about anything here

Why would you discourage her from moving to New Orleans?

Maybe he loves his sister and wants her to not be murdered, mugged or raped? Is that really so wrong?!

In the first ten years after Katrina there was a lot of energy and push for change, and new faces in politics. In the last few years, that has slowed. I certainly would like to see it pick back up again, and I do think the local outrage over the pumps and other issues is indicative that a large part of the population will not put up for a return to pre-Katrina crime and politics. Sadly, there is also a large part of the population with pre-Katrina nostalgia in terms of regaining their perceived political clout, control over schools, etc...Right now I am trying to figure out which of the mayoral candidates is most likely to return us to the past, and which one at least will try to effect change.

Jim Letten was TOO effective, the power-brokers got uncomfortable that he was getting rid of corruption, so they engineered his downfall. His own assistant took the fall for it by commenting about on-going investigations in the NOLA.com article comments.

Had Letten been able to keep it up, things were really changing for the better. Can't have that. The loss of Jim Letten is the worst thing to happen to greater New Orleans since Katrina.

Damn right. How can NOLA be worth a shite?? The stupid fricking mayor hands the keys over to criminals, has his head up his arse over historic statues... I honestly can't think any positive accomplishments from that son of a bitch. Now, you can't even drink the water! I wouldn't piss in his ears if his small brain caught on fire. frick him.

Kenner pros:

Home Depot
Lawnmower and weed eater shops
Autozone main facility
Mexican food
Appliance repairman
Can have livestock in your yard like the people on Williams

Idk if the new Parrain's is good, but it has to be less crowded than the one on Vets

It must be getting bad.

I've seen this threads for a long time now. 5 years ago the OP would have had 100 downvotes and been called every name in the book. Or just told "bye pussy".

Now these threads actually have become supportive and sensible. Everybody saying "sorry and good luck. We aren't far behind you. "

What's been the turn? There has always been crime? Is it just that much worse? Is it the posters on here getting older and not wanting to be in the city anymore? There just isn't a good burb in the state to move to?

If you take Mitch off the table, what do you blame? Something bigger?

I'm honestly asking.

Your head is so far in the sand about NOLA in every thread in is hilarious

The upkeep of this city and its suburbs compared to the other areas in the south/country are pathetic.

You can love NOLA, but this is just a fact

This is your issue. And you have hinted at it in other posts referencing where you live in NOLA

You are rich. And the rich in NOLA can escape the major issues that flaw this city
