Preach. Which is why I cringe seeing anecdotal Portland or SF threads here. It's sincerely a nothing burger to 99.97% to all of us (w the exception of baws who piss off their back deck while smoking to avoid a stroll and toilet seat raising).

The taxes in Texas are equivalent to private school tuition

My taxes in Texas suck arse but the schools are legit. I actually moved back home to Monroe in 2018 for a job that I thought was gonna be very lucrative but ended being a gigantic trainwreck. However my daughter would have been a 4th generation graduate of my high school which I thought would be cool but obviously didn’t work out. However seeing how completely jacked up the public school system is there, it is probably for the best.

I know but it might be nice living somewhere you are not in fear of getting shot or stabbed in the back, car jacked or assaulted walking your dog in the middle of the day. Hell, Gayle Benson even was accosted on Audubon walking her dog in the only "private" street in NOLA.
You can only eat do many beignets, see so many parades or get drunk so many times living in NOLA. ONLY reason to be here is elder parents or kids about to graduate high school and get the hell out of here.
NOLA, Shreveport and BR are 3 of the most dangerous cities in the country for goodness sakes.

New Mexico, Airzona, Colorado, Minnesota, Illionis, Iowa are all as shitty as they get thanks to leftists nutjobs. Texas sounds great but like every major city everywhere, their cities are leftist shitholes too, and having lived there for 20 years,

Outside of the obvious shitholes (Northeast like New York, Boston, etc, all the way down to Virginia minus West VA or Left Coast ie California, Oregon, Washington), there's plenty to not like about a lot of places.

I think so

Before I lived in cities like Houston, Dallas and even dirty arse Corpus Christi I didn't realized how we get nothing in return from our tax dollars.

I love the ppl here, the good Catholics, but Louisiana is a shtt hole.

Sure, MS is about the same. But go visit NW Arkansas and try to convince yourself that it isn’t 50x better than LA.

see this posted sometimes and I seriously don't know a single person that has never left the state.
You would be surprised. I know quite a few people who have never left outside the occasional trip to Florida or Houston.

Trust me. Real winters aren't that fun. If you are dead set to try cleaning snow before and after work, I have a house here on the benches overlooking SLC that I may be putting on the market soon.

I thought the same when i was in colorado but when i saw people boiling crawfish and catching redfish on social media i was like "damn...i would miss this" Yes the scenery is beautiful and prettier, not as corrupt, cleaner elsewhere than louisiana by far but the activities i do here (hunting, fishing, LSU tailgating, boating) i would miss greatly

Colorado is too expensive unless you’re upper middle class. Montana is the best state to buy a house in the mountains. It’s pricey, but not as expensive as Colorado. If you look hard enough, you can find 2,500 sq ft houses 30 minutes from Glacier National Park that go for $600,000. THAT’S a bargain in my opinion.

Gatlinburg TN is also another place with scenery. If there were two states I’d seriously consider retiring in, it would be between Tennessee and Montana

I spent the entire first year at LSU complaining about Louisiana relative to Texas, but I grew to appreciate it greatly and I hope things get better for the folks who live there.

I know alot of native New Orleanians who still try to lean on charm and culture as big draws of the once unique city. Why? When you go other places, do you find yourself thinking "I could live here."

I left Baton Rouge for Dallas for two years out of college.

Moved back for 8 yrs.

Moved to Natchez for 3 years.

Moved back to Baton Rouge. I live in Ascension now but I'll never leave the area again and plan to move back into BR whether to Southdowns or Mid-City in the next 2 years.

You MFers can keep the DFW and the Miss-Lou. Neither is for me at all. Call me Goldilocks b/c one was way too big and other was way too small.

I Love my shitty home town of Baton Rouge

Yeah, because the north and coasts are such utopias.
