Hardly many/any neighborhoods have to offer all what money hill does. definitely none that are 100ft elevation either.

That place was named Money Hill way before the subdivision was built. It used to be a campground. I'd camp with my grandparents there every summer in the 70s. Swimming in the lake, fishing, horseback riding trails. Was pretty sweet.

I don't live there and don't really care but I looked this up just out of curiosity:

Steeped in History
THE TREASURE OF MONEY HILL
Money Hill acquired its name in the late 1800s. Legend has it that swashbuckling Barataria pirates and smugglers, perhaps even the notorious Jean Lafitte, buried some of their stolen loot at Money Hill. The allure of these local tales was so strong that treasure hunters explored the grounds looking for buried treasure well into the 1930s.

The Goodyear family has been the dedicated caretakers of this magnificent property for nearly 100 years. Originally purchased by the family as a logging site in the late 1800s, the two Goodyear brothers (Charles and Frank) created the paper mill and much of the subsequent town that was built around it in Bogalusa, Louisiana. For decades the property supported the timber, pulp, paper and tung oil industries. More recently, it was transformed into a fondly remembered campground for family vacationers and sportsmen.

My dad bought a lot out there in the early 2000s. It was his dream to build his house and retire there. Unfortunately cancer got him in 06 and he never got to build.

Damn man, sorry.

There is nothing like Money Hill on the Nortshore from a scenery standpoint. Not Tchefuncta, Beau Chene, Sanctuary, etc. That being said, it takes about 30 minutes to come from the clubhouse to I-12 which is where you will finally start to hit some major grocery stores. For me it is way too far and you will have a very tough time selling a house out there. If you are looking to build the house you will die in and love to spend time at the club then Money Hill is a great choice. If you have kids and will be moving I would definitely not move out there.

I understand that, but we want to live in a golf community and the ones around here are extremely expensive. This was just another option.

We love TCC but it is just getting ridiculously expensive. Getting to Slidell and Picayune won't be much of an issue for me, but 30 minutes to I-12 is a bit of a hang up.

Not sure about that, but this is a long term investment for sure.

If you love golf then money hill's course is waaaay nicer than TCC. Not even a comparison. (speaking about golf only, not about subdivision and location etc)

Huh. Never knew that.

Maybe I was harsh on it.

I just remember riding up to this fancy gate with Money Hill wrought on it and thinking. "Well they certainly aren't being coy about this being an expensive place to live."

And the land there was gorgeous. I'm just not a golf person and the houses were all shoved close together and the utilities and servitude were in the front yards, which is just dumb on the part of the planners.

Most of the men I talked to seemed fine. The old women were stuck up though.

Just seems like with all that land they could have spread out the houses a bit more. It seemed way too cramped.

I love TCC, but have heard great things about Money Hill. Guess it all hinges on location. Wish it were a little closer.

I was really just messing with you.

I hate HOAs on principle. Every one I've dealt with or had friends deal with seem like little dictators.

Especially the garden homes near the clubhouse. And the name is definitely pretentious without knowing the history which most people don't.
