I read the recent Port Orleans thread. That is where my family and I are staying, Port Orleans Riverside, in June for a few days. Is it best to take buses or just try to drive to Magic Kingdom and park?

take the free buses to the park, not worth the hassle to pay and park

Buses all day every day.
Its one of the reasons you stay on property.

Take the buses... They roll like clock work for the most part and you get dropped off close to the gates

You need help with the subject line. Two words are less and thread will be whacked.

You don't have to pay to park if you are staying on property. However I would still take the bus. You won't beable to park close and you will still have to wait on the parking tram to bring you back and forth to your car.

The parking lot for MK is too far to make it worth it to drive.(tram then either monorail or boat from the transportation center). The bus drops you off right next to the gate. All other parks I would drive. Port Orleans has a lot of stops to and from, just to get out of the resort.
Fyi if you stay on grounds parking is free at all parks.

If you have a handicap tag then take your car, if not you'll be waiting for the tram anyway so take the bus.

Once I get on property I rarely, if ever, drive anywhere. I am more than fine taking the Disney transportation options. If you like to drive yourself so that you don't have to depend on Disney transport and can come and go as you please, I think parking at the MK is still a poor decision given the location of the parking. You will have to wait for a ferry or monorail to take you back to the TTC. Then you have to walk to your vehicle or wait for the tram. So I don't think you really save any time. Buses run pretty regularly.

Thanks for responses, we are only gonna be there a few days, so trying to maximize time. The second day we have a character breakfast at the Grand Floridian, so should I bus there as well? Or drive that day?

I'd drive to GF that day and catch monorail to Magic Kingdom.

From GF? Or drive back to Port Orleans and go from there?

GF is on monorail. That's where we are staying next time we go.

So then the best thing for me is to drive to GF for the character breakfast and leave the car there all day, right? Catch the monorail to parks and back at the end of the day.
