This is a particular case of a government agency attempting to perpetuate a need for it's existence and funding.

Don't worry, your doctor will be happy to prescribe you addictive narcotics that were cooked up in a lab.

Too true and a sad statement about the priorities of our political leaders.

The American political system is owned by the pharmaceutical industry. The amount of money they stand to lose in pain management medication if weed is legalized is in the billions. They certainly can't allow that to happen -- so they grease the politicians and our antiquated laws stay on the books.

Gotta protect those profits to keep the political coffers filled.

Whether you partake or not -- there is a plant that can be grown naturally that can replace many of the expensive, addictive narcotics that are legally prescribed to millions every day. To ignore that fact shows where the priorities lie.

Sad.

Sugar is addictive.

Caffeine is addictive.

Food is addictive.

How far into people's private lives do you need the government to reach in order to feel safe?

Well you referred to certain studies attesting to the chemically addictive nature of marijuana. Which studies were those?

It obviously doesn't cave to science and evidence either.

Wonder what the motivation could be...

He isn't pro-weed, except medicinal. If he wins and makes Chris Christie AG, good luck with legalization. That dude hates weed with a passion. He says Americans can't be trusted to moderate our intake, which is rich coming from someone pushing 400 pounds.

Which is really sad how much he's flipped on this issue in the last couple of years.

Thanks a lot GOP voters.

I was 14 when a pot-crazed man sodomized me for the first time. His eyes were red with madness. I don't know if pot is addictive, but I do know that if we don't stop it, there will be more rape.

You can smoke all day every day for 20 years and quit cold turkey and be completely fine physically.

Try that with alcohol or opiates or amphetamines...if you make it 20 years.

If they didn't do this they would lose hundreds of millions of dollars a year in lost money seizures and forfeitures. Never bite the hand that feeds you.

Now you know how people of color feel every time they're stopped by the police.
