Since 1968 the University of Mississippi has held the only license issued by the DEA to grow marijuana for research, which is funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Now more universities will be permitted to grow the plant for research.

Going to be baby steps to get from Reefer Madness to pot being sold like beer.
ETA I just got finished taking a yearly hospital proficiency course. One areas covered was pain management. Questions CORRECT answer about opioid abuse was essentially "opioid abuse and dependence is rare ( <5% occurrence) when used to manage chronic pain".
Weed is bad... Opium is good.
This is after major crackdowns on prescribing of MDs and use of narcotics.

Decriminalize and legalize them and use the available funds to treat and combat opiate addiction.
