His nose hairs were still there so that's a good sign that he didn't inhale fire. He has a 7 month old and will need lots of prayers. Glad he made it out alive.

My dad said this morning the SCP and State Cops were out in full force all over the parish writing tickets. Never see them pull over 18 wheelers or dump trucks though.
Greg Champagne is dumbass sometimes
Yep everyday SCP and LSP are shooting radar and pulling over hard working people going to and from work and letting these POS truck drivers drive around like bats out of hell.
Also, the dump trucks and trash trucks that litter the roads because they don't cover they're loads like the law says they're supposed to.

I drive it daily...sometimes twice.
Keep in mind that the dump truck drivers probably aren't the most astute drivers on the road--not making an excuse for that, but that is reality. Maybe it's time for Beverly Equipment and Barriere Construction to begin driving safety classes for their subcontracted drivers.
The situation here is a little different than a dump truck driver picking up a load of mud and delivering to a new home site in Metairie...they are in a constant loop from the river to the asphalt plant on 3127 with a steep grade, heavy load, 280 foot high climb bridge inbetween, and all on 65-70 mph roads. It takes a semi skilled driver and a newer model, powerful truck to get that heavy load moving up an incline quickly.
But I also understand that many of the drivers have old trucks that are in bad condition and are just trying to make enough money to pay the bills and desperately need the work.
I imagine the standards now from Barriere is sort of-- "you got a CDL and a truck?...OK--good to go"
I have called LSP DOTD division semi annually for 5 years to report unsecured loads (gravel flying out of the gate of the dump trucks). This really does nothing more than have them show up for a day and check for overweight trucks.
I actually called again last week.
In the last 10 years I have gone through 10 windshields ($1300 a pop) from gravel from the 3127/310 dump trucks. About half of them I had LSP pull over and cite the driver (my insurance can only take so many hits for windshields).
Many times, a check before leaving the site can eliminate much of the flying debris.
On this Easter weekend my prayers are for the families of the drivers involved in this tragic accident.

tgrbaitn08--unfortunately, that's not going to stop...that 10 mile stretch of 310 is a cash cow for St. Charles Parish. The parish government is the force behind the daily LSP on 310.
Follow the money.

What you driving? You need to get in touch with this fella. I drive a Sierra, cost me $200 without going through insurance.

Probably driving in the left lane, too.

With the amount of insurance fraud out there (people purposefully causing vehicles to run into them), it's a smart idea.
I've seen quite a few youtube videos where dashcams have caught people quickly swerving in front of a semi and slamming on the breaks.
That cuts both ways when you have big trucks with knuckleheads driving them. The last thing the company wants to do is give that video to an injured party when they bring a claim.
Friend of mine runs crews for the power company here and he said their brass voted against putting cameras in their trucks because they don't want to have to save that visual evidence for injured parties in litigation.

Idk what your talking about. I daily drive BR to NOLA, occasionally take a trip down 310 for sales calls. I regularly see cops with big trucks pulled over.

Seeing that fireball in the video, it's hard to believe anyone got out alive. Do you know of the tanker driver was wearing Nomex?

Been living in SCP for 56 years, the dump trucks and bid rigs get stopped regularly. If dumbasses would obey the speed limits and lane use laws less accidents would occur. Wish they would stop the idiots texting and driving in the left lane.....biggest hazards on the highway.

frick every dump truck that travels on I-310. Every morning they're either hauling arse at 90mph swerving from lane to lane or they're hogging the left lane going 20 mph under the speed limit. Sorry for the driver of the dump truck and her family but maybe LSP will finally take notice we have a serious problem on that stretch of road.
Thank you. With all of the building going on in Naples, FL the dump trucks are awful. Cut in front of cars to jump on I-75, only to go about 50 mph. One ran a kid over a couple of months back (granted, the kid ran out in front of him, in the early morning). I fricking HATE dump trucks. Too fast or too slow, they are like dinosaurs. And always in the way.

As an owner/op truck driver, I concur with this sentiment. I'm embarrassed to be associated with most truck drivers. Wish I had kept my dashcam footage over the last couple years. Amazing how reckless a lot of them are.
Just a couple weeks ago, there was a rig that was upside down in the median on I-10 on Box Canyon Road outside Indio, California. Dude drove his truck right into a bridge embankment. Straight road, no traffic. Probably staring at his phone. How he didn't die, I'll never know.

I've gone through so many windshields the past 10 years State Farm dropped me. They got tired of replacing 3-4 windshields a year for the past 10 years.

I see it pretty regularly on 90 between Lakewood and the Jefferson Parish line during my morning and evening commutes.
