Reminds me of when I helped lift a car up to save someone's life after a car accident. One guy was like "bro, it's not your job to be superman," and I responded "with great strength comes great responsibility" and just shrugged my shoulders as I walked off into the fading sunset.

you're joking, but a very similar thing actually happened:

Why? If I was a firefighter, I'd just be confused as to why two dudes are buying a house full of guys stuff.

more concerned as to why they take a crew of four in a fire truck that probably costs close to a mil and probably a few thou per hour to operate to the grocery store ten blocks away when they could send two guys(I even grocery shop by myself!) in one of their 4-5 suburbans

Apparently you don't know any firemen. They buy their own food dumbass.

There aren't too many jobs where your food is part of the compensation as far as I'm aware.

The problem is that everyone thinks they deserve to get something more than others. They don't realize firefighters do not make much money at all.

I live in a small town and I ran for city council 12, 13 years ago. There isn't many fires, but they do go out to every wreck and other situations. Most of the time they do stay in the fire station waiting for something to happen, when when something does happen people are happy they are available. I remember looking at the budget for the fire department and those guys have to really like what they do.

When I went talk with the fire chief, his biggest concern was obviously the budget, but like he told me. Most of the fire fighters he had could have all had jobs making a lot more, but the idea of saving a life or assisting other departments (police) in a situation when more people are needed is worth more than the money to them.

If you want to buy those guys groceries, then that is no one's business but your own. I am sure they appreciate it a lot and that person who felt the need to comment on it sounds bitter and for some crazy reason probably thinks he is more worthy of receiving free groceries than the firefighters.

And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.…

Yall are assholes. If someone wants to do something for firemen, etc why is it anyone's concern? Sometimes when I see city workers working on something in my area for a long time, I will bring them drinks or something. They have their own water, but they do appreciate when you bring them each a gatorade or something.

your taxes are already buying their food. Why not save that money up and buy AED's for squad cars?

Apparently you can't read either. I know 8 firemen in 4 states. Not one of them has their department pay for meals. They all pitch in their own money, shop and cook.

Jesus some people just have no concept of how shite works.

I think OP started this thread more so to brag about buying firefighters groceries than to bitch about societies mindset. Pretty sneaky.

No..your tax dollars ARE NOT. They chip in to buy food for themselves on their crappie salary. Don't write about what you do not understand.....what do you do that adds to the fabric of our society? Are you there to help and put your life on the line in a crisis? Fill us in on what allows you to hsve such an opinion on this....

Nurse I think we talked about the whole giving & telling others that you gave thing before. Overall I agree the reason people should give should not be for selfish reasons, but at the same time I think if people do hear that others give it could encourage more people to do so.

But its really all in the way you do it. No one should go around and work it in every conversation they have "oh yeah I give to _________", but if its a situation when there is an opportunity to seek out others to give then its cool if someone says "I don't usually advertise this, but I give ____________ and it would be helpful if others will do so".
