Haven't been but it's high in my list of places I'd like to visit. Want to go to Accra.

Well I was born in South Africa, so I guess that counts.

Do the haberdashers there look confused when you ask for a Mandela necktie?

Most beautiful place I've ever visited, and definitely home to the most gracious, generous people I've ever encountered. Weather stays 75-80 degrees year round in most of Uganda due to its higher elevation and location on the equator.

Then why don't you move there?

I'd be curious to hear his response but speaking for myself - in spite of encountering many beautiful things and wonderful people you are never completely allowed to forget you are a visitor - marked so by your skin color and your language.

There is a general belief among many of the Africans who have never been to the United States that people from America are all really wealthy. So much so that if you chose you could give them large amounts of money without causing yourself any noticeable difference in your own wealth. That kind of difference in understanding, combined with missing home and family, would make it pretty hard to live there for the rest of my life - however much I loved visiting or even living there for shorter periods of time.

Visited last November, was happy to get out of LA and USA with all the turmoil around Coach Miles situation going on. Anyway, visited South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia. A few years back, visited Egypt and Morocco.

The more northeast you go, the shittier it gets. I could see myself living in Namibia, Botswana, and maybe Ghana. Cote D'ivoire and Liberia are absolute shitholes.
