Are you doing intermediate checks?

Cry it out is a process. Not all at once.

Go pick up the baby.

Dude just feed or love the child. It's not rocket science.

First thing, don't overfeed the baby. For some reason people automatically grab the bottle when they baby cries. If he is having stomach problems gripe water will work miracles. Sometimes you just need to take the baby for a ride and get him to sleep, sucks to get out, but it works.

Good luck, we are on night 4. Baby girl is 8 months old. We let her cry for 20 minutes and then would go into the room to soothe her. So far she has only made it to the full 20 minutes twice. All the other times she has calmed down and went back to sleep on her own.

I would say the biggest and hardest thing is to stay strong and resist the urge to go in right away or revert to whatever sleeping conditions you had before.

How fitting that a cry it out thread is nothing but petulant bitching on the first page.

I think 4.5 mo is too young for cry it out. Everything we read said not to start until at min 6mo.

My wife has been a pediatric nurse for 17 years and she also a lactation consultant, so you might have the wrong formula and the baby's belly is hurting or you could be overfeeding and the baby's belly is hurting.

That's cool, but before people had kids and just didn't talk about every fricking waking moment of their existence like it was a big deal. You think my dad was taking add space out in the times picayune asking why I wasn't going to bed after ten minutes?

If he's been crying for 4 hours, pick him up and try again in a month or so. It's obvious he's not going to get it, and it's unhealthy for all involved.

Lol at waiting on 6 months. There's tons of kids that sleep through the night at 1 month, not a majority but a decent percentage.

Here are your potential issues in somewhat of an order of likeliness but not easiness to fix:
1.) you are whipped parents. Stop codling
2.) kid is not tired enough because of poor nap schedule
3.) kid is hungry. Some kids need real food at night, mix baby 'cereal' with formula
4.) kid has a physical problem like ear infection or stomach issue
5.) kid is hot/ cold. Make sure the temp is right in the room. Just because your wife likes it freezing cold to sleep doesn't mean kid does. Try changing around those wrap things and the type of night stuff they wear

Who the frick cares about you and your daddy?

Anyway, have you tried swaddling?

We fed our kids 8 oz breastmilk before bedtime. Ours slept 8-6 since 8 weeks old
