I've had a less scary but still somewhat disturbing sleep disturbance. Mine usually happens when I'm very exhausted and take a short nap. It's like I'm stuck halfway between REM sleep and being awake. Last time it happened I had just come back from a morning deer hunt. I took a mid morning power nap when I was alone at our camp. Thought I heard my name called from the other room. I dreamed that some invisible force had pulled the covers off of me. Woke up with the covers pulled down to my feet. I didn't know if I had dreamed it and pushed the sheets off myself or if they were pulled off. Kinda freaky.

In all seriousness, in my dreams I can usually cause the overs to be pulled away just by thinking about it. What do they call it when you can control parts of your dreams? Is that they mean by lucid dreams?

You might be thinking of the story I'll pass along here:
My second or third year of law school we got a crime alert email. The email stated an incident occurred that morning at 6:15 or so AM. A female student was walking and a black gentleman said "Hello" or "Good Morning" The female threw her purse/wallet and ran. The black man, picked it up and ran.
The email ended just like that and I laughed my arse off.
I sided with the black guy, he probably figured he was already in trouble because this white girl screamed so might as well take the purse.

I worked at a movie theater in 1999. My manager got that e-mail and made sure to tell us at a meeting how they took it seriously and checked the seats for syringes.
I had to roll my eyes since I knew that was extremly improbable, if not impossible, for AIDS to be transmitted that way because it had been outside the body too long.
