One of my coworkers has a Chinese mail-ordered bride but she still lives in China. He has been to China probably 6 times and two years ago he married her in China. She has never been to the US but is suppose to move here. He claims she is having a hard time getting her visa and blames the US for the difficult and lengthy process. To make matters worse her family has been requesting money. He now works two jobs and has been sending them a monthly check for the past year. I'm just suspicious of the entire situation. My coworker is in his mid 40's and never been married before he met her.. He is a nice guy but weird and he is difficult to talk to. He lights up like a Christmas tree when he talks about his Chinese wife though. He really gets excited and he told me today he is closing on a small house he just bought for him and his wife. He has been learning to speak Chinese the last 4 years.

I really hope this is not a scam. But I don't want to rain on his parade because he seems a little off. I thought about talking to him but I'm not sure if I just need to mind my own buisness. It all seems fishy to me.

Isn't it fairly easy to get a Visa when you are married to an American?

He's getting scammed

Mind your own fricking business. You know exactly 0% of what my, i mean his actual situation is.

If he is happy, why would you try to change that.

Did you ask him if he's even fricked her yet? If he is getting laid then it's not too bad. I mean it's either this or he has to pay for hookers... what's the difference?

Extreme vetting of mail-ordered poontang. Nothing to worry about. Happens all the time.

worked at a bank for 10 years. I knew of at least 4 men exactly like this with Chinese and Filipino women. They would come in all the time getting cashiers checks or doing wires to transfer money to those countries. Basically, they go over there and get "married," frick a bunch unprotected, come back and they are hooked. they get pictures and emails sent to them periodically by the girl. But as soon as that dude is gone, she is doing the same thing with someone else. One guy came in and he was broken out in something. He had just come back from the Philippines. Probably an STD or something. I feel bad for these poor frickers.

My guess is that he's getting scammed.

I know the green card and naturalization processes take a long time (and sometimes lots of money), but getting a travel visa for a spouse is comparatively quick and easy. It shouldn't have taken two years to get her here - even if only on a 30/60/90 day visa.

Hell, does he think that all the tourists have to wait 2+ years to come here with their big arse cameras?

There are several red flags here.

First of all, if they got married in the US, instead of in China, she would be eligible for a Green Card immediately. 99.9% of women want to come to the US to get married, not the other way around.

Also, getting a Visa to visit here from China isn't hard. He can just have his boss sign something saying his company wants to bring her in to discuss business or something. It's routine.

He needs to make an appointment with the US consulate near where she lives. He flies over there and goes with her to the appointment with the consular. She either leaves there with a Visa, or she blows off the appointment and doesn't show.

Either way, he'll know.

May be a good idea to befriend this guy in the event that he ends up going on a rampage after she bleeds him for everything he's worth and crushes his soul.

This seems like the easy choice. But sitting back with popcorn and waiting for him to implode also seems bad. I'm one of the few people this guy speaks to at work.

Why would she marry him if it is a scam though?

This is definitely your business and you should get involved immediately. It sounds like your best friend is getting fish-catted, it's a real scam that they do to wealthy Americans to steal our freedom. Report it to the cops right now.
