And if so, why can't the FBI figure out how to hack an iPhone?

You see stories all the time of, "Girlfriend hacks Boyfriends phone, Post Message on Facebook?" Are our espionage services unable to compete with the technological savvy of a drunk college co-ed?

all this rhetoric is just grandstanding for the public. Of course Apple helped the FBI they just dont want the public to know about it.

Because she watched you.

And because before if she was nuts she could sit there and count from 0001-9999. It would take some effort but bitches be crazy. Especially bitches who think you're cheating.

Because the FBI is too dense to just type in your birth date.

If by hack you mean "type in my passcode because it's his birthday," then yes.

I don't think it's the same as if I had an actual random code.

after making a few bad attempts it makes you wait an hour between attempts.

hence the problem the FBI is having.

What's to hack? You flip it open and read what you want.

Ok, but do the agents assigned to this case have something more important to do?

And even if it's random numbers or codes, I thought the FBI had people whose sole role was to break codes and encryptions? Have I watched too many spy movies on tv? This all seems so stupid to me

Also, if you're too lazy to come up with a better pass code than your DOB and you're cheating on your SO you deserve every bit of misery she brings once you're caught

I know that. I said it would take time. I did NOT know it made you wait an hour?

I don't have a passcode on mine so it's pretty easy. I'm sure she could figure it out.

Have you even read any of the articles related to this? The version of the iPhone the FBI is trying to hack has a security feature that erases all the data if ten wrong passcodes are entered. It has nothing to do with just waiting between trying codes.

No, it has some updated version that will cause it to basically delete all files after too many failed attempts.

considering how many phone locks are a 4 digit number that means something to the user, this shouldn't be hard to understand.

It's a combination of the long wait between attempts plus the feature where everything is erased after so many failed attempts. Unfortunately this terrorist was a bit savvier at tech than your girlfriend/boyfriend.

No, I didn't know this. There's no way the government can bypass this without assistance from Apple?

because the media equates guessing someones password to a "hack", which technically it is
