living in something for work is different than owning a tiny residence.

I guess it could make a cool office for work if I was out of state but not as my real home.

I do like the idea of having alot of land as well to go with the big house. Alone i could do the tiny residence as a vacation home/camp.

I've been considering building some of these to sell or rent if there truly is going to be as many out of town workers coming to Lake Charles as people think. My uncle owns an RV park so I've thought about putting them there to rent out.

I also could easily live in one of those since I am single. I have been eyeing this plan to put on some land but I would make it a little bigger and adjust some things.

LINK

I could also build it hell of a lot cheaper than the $70K he is asking for it.

I think the thing that makes them different (and trendier) than trailers is that many of them are self-sustainable with their own power sources like solar panels for electricity. Not really gas generators or relying on power lines to where they're placed.

I would definitely prefer a nice, tiny house in an awesome location with land to explore around me than a huge house with a concrete yard six feet from my neighbors' windows. My husband and I could see ourselves living in something like that one day after kids are grown and on their own.

I could probably be happy inside her:

Or Jennifer Aniston.
Or simultaneously both.

I'd love a little parcel of land with a 300 or 400 Sq foot place on it somewhere in the mountains. Be great for weekends.

My current push in my apartment is just less stuff. Creating space by not having what space I have crammed with crap I don't need/don't use. I have no idea how I have collected so much STUFF but god it feels good to pitch and toss it.

that and most people are putting really high end finishes on them since the place is so small, they can afford to splurge on things

Yeah, I've got my home on 22 acres. I do think I may eventually add on a room, but haven't decided on that yet. Ideally I'd like an attached greenhouse in the home, but am afraid of the moisture issues. And by attached I mean as part of the actual house, not a separate building or a lean to.

I'll probably eventually put on some sort of living/great room for entertaining. But as of now, I've got plenty of space.

Trailers/mobile homes are built very poorly too. The manufacturers lobby to get the least amount of restrictions on them as possible to pass winds codes and such. It wasn't too long ago that they were still using 2x2 trusses in the roofs with the damn sardine can crimped on metal roofs and no decking.

A tiny house typically follows typical residential construction practices.

Considering building something like this size with less roof fanciness in the NC mts.

I actually just built one. It's a 12x36 cabin. I'm still finishing it up and will add photos when I'm done.

Loving it so far.

Yeah, saw your pictures. You did a great job..

I'm thinking something like this. My wife and I stay here sometimes, it's a cabin on Eagle River here in JNU that you can rent for $35/night.

Also still thinking about a yurt on an elevated deck

We had a blast in that cabin in the summer of 2009. One of the best years I've ever had.

We recently downsized from about 2,800 sq. feet to about 900 so we could live on the waterfront. With us two, it's way more than enough.

Close if you did without some things and stained the floors or something.

Aren't you the guy with the big Mastiff-like dog + other dogs? Not sure if there would be enough room for me in a tiny house with 3 dogs, especially since one of them weighs more than me!
