Common sense would usually say a woman with her 2 kids in the car isn't pulling a gun on the cop
Common sense would usually say a cop doesn't randomly pull said woman out of her car & beat her up because he's pissed that she failed to buckle up.

sounds like you are eating her story of how it went down.
how's it taste?
Like the delicious coffee I get overnighted from Amazon.
Her story is logical, and backed up by the fact that all charges were dropped. I love how you cop defenders won't back off, often times even after the cops' own DA and department admit wrongdoing.

Their story has already proven to be false, so I'm not sure what your point is here.

whats your middle ground?
size up the person you just pulled over and make a snap judgement if they are dangerous or not before you decide to let them berate you or disobey your request to hand over their license?
Well, why not just let them use deadly force then in your scenario. After all, it's better than the cop being killed, right?
Some of you would really benefit by reading The Gulag Archipelago. Your mentality is really no different than Soviet citizens in the mid twentieth century. When there friends and family members were being snatched by the government, they remained passive and said the exact same things that so of you are saying. Again, as an American, I find this scary.

So she showed a weapon? She made actual verbal threats to his safety? Is this where you're going with your made up story?
My made up story is that she was mouthy, and he wasn't going to have it.

because if you watched the same video i did, it failed to capture how the woman magically floated out of the car and appeared on the ground under the cop.
sure seems to be a HUGE piece of the puzzle mising here.
they had no choice but to drop the charges because..you know..that partial video.
i will reserve judgement until i see exactly how the woman ended up on the side of the road.

Scariest part is that they charged her with felony assault on a police officer, and without the video, it would've stuck. They can ruin your life in a fricking second.
It's scary easy for a cop to plant drugs or something.
Almost as scary as women who can ruin a man by crying rape.

guess we'll never know because camera-boy (or girl) mysteriously failed to capture a key part of the takedown.
without that, you and i are both speculating.
you're on the bored housewife-driving-around-with-kids-stirring-shite side and i'm on the pissy-cop-not-gonna-let-her-mouth-off side.

So we've at least arrived at the same version of the story
Difference is just what you see as acceptable, and what I don't.
He punched her in the face with a closed fist. Short of her being an imminent threat, I just can't see how this is justifiable.
Posted on 10/6/15 at 1:12 pm to CAD703X
More than likely, she had it coming.
Obviously, the video doesn't show everything that led up to her being punched. She does sound a little psychotic, though, so nothing would surprise me.

I'm pretty sure had she brandished a weapon at the cops, there would be charges for for it. And even a video of them punching her would not complete the DA to drop them if she'd have had a weapon.

definitely looks bad, i dont disagree.
however adrenaline runs high when someone is actively fighting you.
i have a very hard time believing the cop went at her aggressively from the get-go and that she dindu nuffin to provoke him.
without body cameras or dashcam, we'll never know if she DID assault them..slap him, grab at him..whatever.
maybe she really did nothing and he just wanted to beat up a woman in front of her kids for kicks.

Not much of that applies to this scenario. It was a seatbelt violation. The only thing the cop needs to do is write the ticket, give it to her, and ask if she understands. Beyond that, to engage in any of her mouthy bullshite is pathetic on the cops part.
Do we know why she was being arrested instead of just issued a citation? Everyone seems to think its because she was being mouthy but what if she refused to sign the ticket? What if she threw the ticket in the cops face and he thought she was taking a swing? I agree the punch wasn't necessary

well the open-handed bitch slap he gave her didnt seem too effective, so he took it up a notch.
apparently it worked.

you know maybe if we had the full video it would have stuck as well....
This woman is no angle and she didnt get her arse beat just for not having her seat belt unbuckled.

Exactly. Humans are just fancy dogs or apes. They in a twisted way like being dominated and abused by the pack leader, in this case cops and all powerful govt. it makes them feel secure and powerful themselves to be on the same side as the abusers.
The need of most humans to be dominated is what allows us to have civilized society, but there is a very dark side of that resulting in support for abusive all powerful governments

I think there's quite a bit we're missing from this story.
